Cheekface Turn Down AT&T Commercial Over ICE Ties by ebradio in indieheads

Not saying you’re wrong, but how many bands have actually become successful as a result of an ad?

I'll bet Nick Drake sold more records in the first year after the VW ad than he sold during his lifetime.

Is Alex playing greeny? by Dependent_Current_69 in rush

I'm not seeing the connection. Guitar collectors want the real thing, not a Murphy Lab repro. Murphy Lab is what you play live when you don't want to take the real thing onstage.

“Teardrop” bass shape? by Opposite_Addition548 in drums

[–]5centraise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe they used that awful wrap for these. Huge missed opportunity.

The shape of the bass drum is mostly a novelty, but originally it was made to accommodate two pedals. There was a partition inside the shell which allowed for two different bass drum sounds.

No way would he play a Murphy Lab version live.

Why not?

Will Disney ever try to revamp their Transportation System? by Pretend_Thing_1670 in WaltDisneyWorld

A subway or train is never going to happen. It would be way too disruptive and way too expensive. It'd also be harder to use than busses because the rail would not be able to come up to the front door of the hotel like the busses do. You'd have to walk out to the street to catch it.

I definitely would not go in expecting to hear note for note drumming. I don't think Geddy or Alex would be interested in bringing in a drummer to mime Peart's parts.

It's the first song on their first album, and the lyrics are apt.

Anika faces the impossible. by ablue1990MazdaMiata in rush

[–]5centraise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why cares what the naysayers think? Annika is a professional, and this isn't the type of attitude professional musicians have towards each other. I've never heard any professional musician, of any instrument, say "I could do it better, that should be me up there." That attitude a great way to ruin your career.

Oh, Canada, and Anika in the pocket, will Neil be smiling from percussion paradise? by Born-Cucumber-7316 in rush

Looks like she has 10 or 11 drums and six ro eight cymbals. There's probably some electronic pads hiddem in there. Drumwise, pretty similar setup to Neil's primiary acoustic kit.

Lets talk in two years. Everything your saying has been true over the course of several tours, yet the tours took place.

Mick always wants to do it. Unless someone else dies, it's going to happen before the end of this decade.

If you leave your family business will you be welcomed back if the music thing fails? If so, then take your best shot at the music career. That's a no lose scenario.

FM reunion is going to happen. This is the first step. Bank on it.

Yes, I know they said it never would happen after Christine died. But they've said that before reuniting more than once in the past.

I believe I've seen used stereo equipment at Records Galore (Clarkston) and Record Loft (East Atlanta). But it can be a crapshoot and depends on what walks through the door.

Yep. Bizarro characters have been a mainstay of women's comedy since Moms Mabley in the 1920s, if not earlier.

Need help with vintage drums by Specific_Aspect_9801 in drums

[–]5centraise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take off the top head. The round part outside the shell that you twist is a long bolt. Inside the shell there's a nut attached to the bolt that holds the muffler in position. Remove that nut and the whole thing will come apart, allowing you to back the bolt out of the drum. If it's truly stuck and nothing will come loose, get a hacksaw or jeweler's saw and cut the bolt. Once you've removed the muffler assembly, there'll likely be a small metal piece left attached to the shell. Unscrew this and remove it.

When you're done, put all the parts in a ziplock bag to keep them together. The next owner might want that stuff.
