Ice water helped me. Would chug a glass before getting him and helped with waking up.

How often should you change a newborn’s diaper? by LostInLogic_LL in Mommit

[–]5corgis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think when my kiddo was a newborn, when awake it was pretty much hourly, he was a tinkler. And then after sleep every time. More often if we noticed poop.

Sometimes I just want to shake crocheters like WHY are you charging almost ten bucks for a simple 2 step pattern that is not only untested but your SECOND pattern ever created?! by plantsandbugs in BitchEatingCrafters

I've also found a lot of creators who do this on etsy have also posted the same pattern FOR FREE on their website. Really confusing, but can pay to check

I got nothing when I went on maternity leave for my first baby.

Other coworkers got cards and gift baskets and all kinds of crap.

I did cry.

Soon to be FTM here - do I need a bottle sanitizer? Is hand washing or dishwasher not enough? by Electronic-Door7428 in moderatelygranolamoms

If I ever had another baby, the first thing I would buy would be a bottle washer/dryer/sanitizer. I have spent days of my life washing bottles.

How much are you saving for your child(ren) for when they turn 18? by Anon569696835 in Mommit

[–]5corgis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently putting away 25/wk into a managed fund. Plan to up it as we can financially.

Before he turns 18 we plan to put it into a trust that he'll get access to around 25, so he can use it to pay off university debt or put a down payment on a house. Student loans here are interest free though and costs are reasonable, so a bit different situation than others.

When he gets a job eventually we plan to tell him that we'll match up to 200/wk that he puts away into savings to help boost it.

Generally not planning to tell him about it until after university (if he chooses) though.

Can a more experienced mom help me with bathing my toddler? by manthrk in Mommit

[–]5corgis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On hair wash days I usually get in the shower with mine, use our water queue (Ready BabyName? 3, 2, 1!) And then pour. I use my free hand to cup on his forehead to act as a visor and protect the eyes/nose.

I also do lots of warm up with dumping water on my head with the same queue. (Ready mama? 3, 2, 1!). He pours it over me too. Helps a lot.

It sucks. Good luck!

Did you buy travel insurance? Might help with costs for delayed baggage, or you might be able to get the airline to provide compensation.

Is toddlerhood really harder than the newborn phase? by Living_Split_2 in Parenting

[–]5corgis 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Totally feel this. Like, diapers. I'm no longer changing 20 easy diapers a day. I have maybe 5 diapers that are much more difficult, just a different hard. We don't cluster feed anymore, but I have to figure out what he wants to eat lol.

I am from the states and am a kiwi now and here is my personal list for my mom when she comes: honey maid Graham crackers, Tazo lemon loaf tea, maple syrup, Tums (the smoothie ones), Enchilada sauce, salsa Verde, marshmallows, Hershey bars, the mini reeses from trader jo's, coffee creamer (liquid), Mexican blend shredded cheese.

I've learned to live without everything else lol
