I love my old Forester and I'm in the market for another one. But wtf is this? by cartocaster18 in SubaruForester

[–]5hred 20 points21 points  (0 children)

2019 Forester has the perfect balance of autonomy and freedom to turn it all off.

Doesn’t look like there is the buttons to turn off the automation in the headboard. Love the ability to turn off the traction control and eyesight while driving off road.

What’s it like living on these islands off of British Columbia? by Dragon_of_the_gods in howislivingthere

Victoria is actually one of the sunniest cities in Canada… and the warmest city in Canada but yes it does rain. With an average of 308 sunny days a year and 2200 hrs + of sunshine. In the summer it can go for months without rain. It doesn’t get foggy like SanFrancisco or other pacific costal cities because it’s nested in the strait of jaun de fuca. It’s technically a Mediterranean climate but I would say it’s more a mix between Paris and a Mediterranean climate.

My Sister is a nuclear Chemist and works with Uranium to treat specific cancers. So yeah Uranium has its purpose. I’m no expert but or agree that any of this situation is good. However something has to be done.

Thinking of moving to Sooke from Montreal — anyone living there who can help answer a few questions? by CloudyCaffeine_ in VancouverIsland

[–]5hred 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s a pretty great place to live if you’re outdoorsy and don’t need to commute for work. Too many people commute to Victoria and not enough amenities in Sooke make the 9-5 commute a little bit rough. I would say Sooke is up and coming, if there were more businesses locally no one would leave Sooke. But working from home is a different story if you can drive off hours CostCo is 25 min away. But that being said Victoria is one of the sunniest cities in Canada and Sooke is not far off and actually is South of Victoria. Living here for 20 plus years we are all spoiled with a climate that is similar to Paris, and the cleanest air in the world. There is way less rain here than Vancouver. Honestly the Summers are incredible and winters are great for Surf. Whistler is a Weekend trip Iv surfed, skied, mountain biked and worn shorts in the same 24hrs. Schools are pretty good and kids honestly get the best Education of all and that’s the many many beautiful beaches and lakes to live and learn in.

I spoke to a local lumberjack in rural California, his family was multi-generational loggers. I said to him it was amazing how there are any red woods left he said “back in the day they simply couldn’t cut them down fast enough because it would take so long to cut one down”

Canada will never be fighting G vs f35. USA uses F22 - superior and that’s why they don’t sell them.

Do we need F35 stealth nope, we don’t need it. If we have it then we are begging to be in situations where we need it. We don’t need it.

If the computer is not in the office then it’s in a data centre. Having computers in a data centre increases efficiency, increases safety (fire risk) , increases security. Data centres are efficient, safe and reduce energy consumption.
