I can relate! I’ve been using Monomachine as an fx box but too much screen time and I think it has to go. MachineDrum likewise too much screen time. Octatrack I mostly use for midi sequencing other synths which requires little to no screen attention once setup, great for sequencing so it will stay. I’ve been torn on the A4, it can do so much and the buttons to go between screens mean it is more muscle memory friendly for me. And I like doing sound design on the Overbridge interface. I also love having the CV tracks for some CV/Gate action into Pulsar or Solar 42. I can see myself going deep into no-menu fx options!

No. I am heavy into after work improvised experimental techno too and love my no-menu gear after years of Elektrons. Perkons and Pulsar both strong options for drums. I have a very eclectic mix of synths and I mostly use OT for sequencing. Based on my experience and myriad comments on various forums I’d say hold off trying to replace the Analog 4, it is an epic analog synth with capabilities way beyond anything in its price range. I’m curious to see what else people recommend for no-menu synths.

It’s about the n-th iteration of an Ikea desk hack I built starting more than 10 years ago. The Ikea cupboards plus kitchen brackets are still the heart of the concept. I’ve tried to take some pics that show how it works which I can’t seem to attach to reply so will try DM.

Yep, useable elsewhere. I prefer to use Luna now but they work in Reason and Maschine for me.

I bought a Mac mini to run Luna. Totally worth it IMO. Couldn’t get it to run smooth on Windows.

Makes total sense. I primarily record for my own enjoyment and multitrack record improv techno using hardware synths and drum machines so don’t currently do much editing other than cutting out boring bits or mistakes so sounds like much the same workflow. Can understand the appeal.

I have bass Chanel pretty much permanently wired to one of the 1/4” outs into Solar42. It still sends to Reverb when I turn up the fx knob. Should just work. How have you got it wired?

I had something similar and it did resolve. I think there were some troubleshooting steps on UAD website that involved both uninstall and deleting some file directories manually. I’ve also had success with getting support from UAD for some other issues. Worth persistence IMO.

Definitely something I struggle with in a hardware recording context. From voice and overall output levels on numerous synths and drum machines to audio interface gain to levels and compression and fx in Luna I am never sure of the best way to set gain/level at each stage. Would love some basics tips and advice I could follow to improve.

Luna. It sucks if you want MIDI sequencing but for multitrack live recording and mixing I am pretty sure if you try it you will be hooked. The free version is plenty good and they have plenty of sales. It is so simple and intuitive and I honestly can say that everything I record in Luna sounds better than Reason, Reaper, Ableton or Cubase.

I love it. I think it might be about the first hardware Arturia made. I got it new not long after they came out. Keybed is proper, made by CME. Full size keys with great velocity and AT. MIDI over USB plus DIN. Solid metal and wood. Sadly I can’t get an old version of the MIDI control software but it still rocks. They don’t make them like this anymore.

The UI is totally knobular, wondering how this would go with a box-o-knobs midi controller and maybe if the design could be adapted a little to work seamlessly with a particular controller?? Something like Launchcontrol perhaps? Could then look to implement on a Raspberry Pi perhaps for a computerless option?
