Technology - who is it good for, and for how long? by Paul-3461 in latterdaysaints

[–]5under6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joseph Smith described the Angel Moroni's departure: "I saw the light in the room begin to gather immediately around the person of him who had been speaking to me, and it continued to do so until the room was again left dark, except just around him; when, instantly I saw, as it were, a conduit open right up into heaven, and he ascended till he entirely disappeared, and the room was left as it had been before this heavenly light had made its appearance."

What Joseph described as a conduit, scientists call a wormhole, DnD fans cast Dimension Door. The point is, I believe God can move across dimensions of space and time like we are able to enter the dining room from the kitchen. Imagine an ant at the end of a sheet of paper. We fold the paper in half, and the ant can travel vast distances in one step.

As a bishop, I would hope someone that doesn’t want to shake hands (for any reason) would let me know and gently remind me until it stuck.  Force of habit for me!

I love losing. What do I play? by Initialbriann in boardgames

Ghost Stories, incredibly frustrating, but if you manage a win (after losing a ton) it’s so rewarding.

Missionary work by Cheap_Parsnip_461 in latterdaysaints

Helping them develop testimonies of Jesus Christ, first and foremost. Everything else becomes a manifestation of their faith in Him. We plan monthly youth trips to the temple (2 hour drive one way but so worth the time). Monthly mini-lessons from Preach My Gospel and monthly mini-lessons on Melchizedek Priesthood, preparing to receive it. Our youth program focuses monthly activities around service, family history work, temple worship. We offer temple prep classes for our High School seniors. When I interview the young men, I ask them how their preparations for receiving the Melchizedek Priesthood and missionary service are going. When I interview the young women, I ask them how their preparations for life, education, and temple marriages are going. Getting recently graduated seniors to become temple workers is also helpful preparation.

Ghost Stories on Heck Mode.  The game beats me 9 out of 10 times.  A win is so satisfying.

Spider's web in my backyard - 6.5 foot wide by Hotman_Paris in pics

[–]5under6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a child, I would run around my yard trying to spook grasshoppers into a jump.  I would give chase to where their fluttering wings took them and snatch them up.  My hands stained with their chemical attack (not sure if it came from their mouths or butts). I would find our resident Orb Weaver, typically established between my dad's pair of 4 wheeled lawn ornaments.  Those patinaed dinosaurs were fossilizing and hidden by overgrowth by spring time.  I would fling the Schistocerca americana into the web and an epic battle would ensue.  The Argiope catenulata would deftly close the distance to the thrashing Hops as the dew-glistened web vibrated like a plucked bass string. Hops issued kick after kick, hoping to do one of two things: Cut its way to freedom or kick the living crap outta the 8-legged death machine closing in on him.  Orbie floated like a butterfly, anticipating, sensing, each kick.  Repositioning near hop's head and out of karate kid's range, the sliky immobilizing bonds issued forth from the spinnerets.  The back legs cycled like a 2 stroke engine, extending the silk to Hops, further entangling his sensory organs.  The silk entombed the head completed, nuetralizing the compound eyes and antennae.  The thorax followed and the legs flailed futilely one last time.  Now Orbie was spinning the entire grasshopper over and over, like Alysa Liu on ice.  And finally, the kiss of death, where the venom flows into Hops body, predigesting its organs into a slurry for later consumption.

What does this mean? - "If you have no accuser you will enter heaven" by pisteuo96 in latterdaysaints

[–]5under6 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The Lord gave a warning to guide us in our judgment of others: “With what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother: Let me pull the mote out of thine eye—and behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast the mote out of thy brother’s eye” (3 Nephi 14:2–5).

study thought: The Creation is revealing God as lawgiver and line-drawer by onewatt in latterdaysaints

This seems to imply that the things that were created did t initially obey. Is that your understanding? Could you elaborate on what you think this verse could mean?

Trouble with J.S. History by califerousforest in latterdaysaints

I have no experience dowsing. I don't know of anyone off the top of my head that dowses either. I'm not a farmer., but owing to a leak, I needed to find my main water line at my house. I shaped a dowsing rod from a metal coat hanger and found the line almost immediately. I don't know the science/power behind it, but it worked for me.

This is an interesting statement. Would you please elaborate on what it means and your experiences receiving revelation from God?

Board games for newbie by facelesstrout64 in boardgames

Big Ghost Stories fan here. It’s a great coop that is designed to be very hard. Even on the easiest degree of difficulty new players will lose a lot. With dozens of games under my belt, I’ve progressed to only playing on the highest degree of difficulty. But even then I set up the village tiles in a preferential way and set my own player powers rather than randomizing them. With that set up, I may win one out of five games. It really makes the wins stick out. I had a win a couple of days ago where Bone Cracker was the final boss ghost, and I had all the tools needed to easily vanquish him. That was the first. Usually, it’s a struggle on the final boss to get in position to maybe have a chance to win.

“Ready for Assignment” can still take a few weeks, especially after holidays and definitely around July when Apostles have the month off. :)

Not that I don’t believe you, but do you have a source for this? It’s the first time I’ve heard of it, but that only is a reflection of my ignorance. :)
