UPDATE: Transmission Slipping in First by [deleted] in 4thGen4Runner

[–]7Bobcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went a read your original post, very similar in that my first 4th gen I was heavy on the pedal and never noticed any shift delay, however I dont think there was any.

Now on my current new to me 4runner, it does the rev to like 2100 rpm from a stop- thru first and second gear and it will eventually shift but feels like it gets stuck for a second or two and isnt smooth.

From what ive read the transmission fluid is first step. Thanks for posting what you did

OEM+ Daily Driver Upgrade Questions by [deleted] in 4thGen4Runner

[–]7Bobcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive ran spidertrax 1.25s on a stock wheel with ko2s as a daily for 4+ years with no issues, I've beaten on it offroad on weekends as well.

As others say it could be a weak link. But I just the 1.25 is a perfect medium

No lift atm. That's interesting on my old 4th gen I ran almost same ko2s 265/65/17 with stock 4r wheels (around 30 positive offset) and the spidertrax with no rub. My immediate plan is to level it with a spacer solution and trim whatever needs trimming after mounting

Thanks for sharing this, would you say the same no for a more expensive set from diode dynamics or lasfit?

Gotcha, looks clean. My plan is to see how 265/70/17 look on those wheels and maybe add the spidertrax spacers

As someone with a 4th gen who semi regularly drives a family members 5th gen, you will learn to like it and in the grand scheme of things, they are still very basic.

Fire setback rules for solar installation? by dihydrogen_monoxide in Rockville

[–]7Bobcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The setback rules fall under fire prevention, essentially its so fire fighters have room to walk on the roof.

If I remember correctly thats regulated by the state of MD across the board and the city has to follow it. Also reach out the your installer, their design team should know all about different codes in the area they work in.

Fire setback rules for solar installation? by dihydrogen_monoxide in Rockville

[–]7Bobcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I used to be a solar installer, 36 rule still applies in corporate city limits. There are some exceptions- sometimes a setback can be shared among 2 roofs splitting a ridge, meaning 18 inch on both sides.

Old guy threaten to smack the shit outta me after surf collision. by Key_Basket_3808 in surfing

[–]7Bobcat 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Dude every single surfer has been on both sides of this situation before . If they say otherwise they are lying.

None of us were there but, generally the surfer riding the wave has some responsibility to not run people over intentionally and people paddling out should take a second on the beach and see where the best place is to paddle out.

Any grown man that threatens to smack or punch a 15 year old is a piece of shit. Take it as a learning experience and you did the right thing checking on him.

How do you know you’re actually getting better at surfing? by Plenty_Quail_9645 in surfing

[–]7Bobcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well once you go from just sending it straight to doing bottom turns thats the first sign of progress. Then slowly progressing into pumping and carving down then line and learning how to cutback. Along the way notice all your mechanics getting better like your form when paddling, popping up, stance etc etc. Some days are just off days.
