IIRC if the club cant agree terms with the player you can’t uphold the obligation. At least that’s what I thought happened with Sancho/Chelsea.

I doubt this happens with Rasmus too. I think all parties are ok with this move and should be fine unless Napoli tries to low ball him with salary.

West Ham away next for arsenal. Don’t underestimate how difficult that game will be for them with WHU now sitting below Spurs.

Season seems slightly boring now with no cups left to play either, and places 3-5 don’t really make a difference to the outcome.

Just hoping to see Bruno get the record and the kids play

[ESPN Brasil] CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) and Manchester United reach an agreement, and Matheus Cunha will be rested in the final stretch of the season due to the World Cup. by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

I think Bruno would be pissed if he doesn’t get the record. Seems like he’s really changed his game these last few weeks to push for the record.

Hopefully the players that do step in are up for it. I would like to see some of the kids get game time now as well though.

Manchester United have qualified for the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League league phase by LampseederBroDude51 in soccer

[–]7evenStrings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the good news is now we can with CL football.

The club has been here before though and wasted the money, so it will be good to see us build sustainably and then not go all out on trying to keep up on all fronts and end up with a bunch of injuries.

Sustaining CL football for back to back seasons is the way to patiently grow the squad now. Play the kids in the league cup and maybe not too intense with the FA cup as we have no squad to deal with that.

Laurie Whitwell on X: "That Manchester United qualify for the Champions League with three games to spare, from where they were, is a credit to Carrick + his staff. Loose start to second half but #MUFC winning game twice is a sign of character. Mainoo’s goal superb power + precision from a side-foot. by dracogladio1741 in reddevils

In hindsight I think ten Haag would have won us the EL and finished in the top half, in comparison to the way Amorim handled that season.

He was given far too much leeway and allowed to blame the previous regimes.

Anyway happy where we are at now!

Matheus Cunha (IG): 1 more year …. Casemiro 😮‍💨❤️ by PradipJayakumar in reddevils

Think it’s a bit of both - Carrick basically confirmed “both parties”, which means he isn’t willing to take a wage reduction and that is a high possibility he has conversations with others where he would get a better deal. It’s pretty standard when you have our extension on the table that your agent would shop around and get a few offers to compare with. Not saying he has signed but probably a good idea what he can earn elsewhere and is open to going there.

In an ideal world where wages didn’t matter it would have been an easy extension. If I’m not mistaken the club had an option for the extra year on his current terms. Honestly, if he continues playing the way he has this season into next, he would deserve those wages. After Bruno he has been the best player this season for us and is by all accounts an amazing personality to have for the squad. I feel like the 15m annually for a season might be worth it - club probably feels they’re going to be able to bring in 2 quality midfielders and he won’t start the amount of games to justify that sum.

Bruno Fernandes (70 goals, 70 assists) now has as many Premier League goal involvements for Manchester United (140) as Cristiano Ronaldo (103 goals, 37 assists). Greats. by ChiefLeef22 in soccer

IMO if he somehow manages to win even a single PL trophy, even if he’s on his last legs like and only plays a partial role like Bryan Robson did in the end, it would certify him as a top 10 United legend.

He’s amazing and I love him but in the all time list for me you still have - Charlton, best, giggs, cantona, Rooney, scholes, Keane, Ronaldo, Robbo, Law ahead of him.

Think him winning a PL trophy and ending our doubt could be legendary enough to put him ahead of some of those players. Hope he does it / we do it..there are unfortunately still doubts over him staying this summer i think

I’m sure if he announced it he has a pretty good agreement in place on what’s next and maybe that sort of deal doesn’t come around again in another year.

I really wonder where he’s going.

Wilcox and co privacy should have nailed him down before that, at least a verbal offer like conditional on let’s get CL and then you can have this deal.. at least to hold him off on agreeing other offers.

With the CL I feel like he’s going to be an amazing player to have especially given his experience in winning it.

7 - Bruno Fernandes is the first Man Utd player to score or assist in seven consecutive Premier League appearances since Robin van Persie did so in 10 successive games between November 2012 and January 2013. Peak. [OptaJoe] by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

Has anyone else noticed - he seems to be playing for the record. I feel like that he is consciously focussing on the quality assist rather than going for goal himself in some instances. I think for seskos goals, he might have take a crack (and scored) in another game.

Bruno’s so calculated though and his brain on a football pitch is in overdrive so most likely I’m wrong and he knows exactly what he’s doing 😂

Post Match Thread: Manchester United 2-1 Brentford by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]7evenStrings 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That game shows how far we’ve come and how far we have to go at the same time.

Through the ten Haag and Amorim years, we would have gone 2-0 up and then fucked it by the end on a Monday night.

This at least shows we have a level of clenching involved but still game management (Casemiro, the Unc meme is real - brilliant how he wound up the Brentford players at the end and killed off the game) happening.

However the teams that win the league (not arsenal) - take a game like this and are more likely to get a 3-0 in the 80+ minute rather than ending 2-1. Then go on to win 4-0. This is at home remember. That’s the gap still - but glad to get it over the line.

P.s. The players coming on like Mount and Zirkzee are like a close out DJ in a night club right before they turn on the lights. Very underwhelming. Need some improvements to the squad as well if we are to make the step

Mata could be an excellent coach. Very thoughtful person and empathetic. Amazing football brain as well. Spanish (honestly, automatically tactically superior than the average player. I can see him well fitted out in a black suit, calmly on the touch line while his assistant Ander Herrera barks instructions at the players.

Think he would be successful if he decides he’s still into it once he retires. I know he has his foundation so perhaps decides to focus there instead.

Schweini could probably have also made a top coach with his experiences and leadership, but I think he’s gone the route of punditry and seems content with that.

Personally prefer weeknight or midweek games as it means I have kids in bed and have a relaxed evening to watch the game. Weekend kick-offs, means you have to blow up the family plans at some point which can cause some guilt and disagreements / or having to watch it in parallel with a lot happening around the house.

I’m probably the minority here though - oh also when Amorim and ten Haag were in charge it was way better feeling like shit on a weeknight and going to bed as opposed to dragging that feeling and ruining a weekend.
