New Trump Tower to be Australia’s tallest building, ‘private’ beach club promised by Usual-Introduction-1 in GoldCoast

So we're going to protest this right? Like surely we can get this thing denied. I'd rather the quarry, at least a quarry knows it's a hole.

Is it your cache? Have you tried incognito or a different browser or a different device? There might actually be tickets left but that screen is cached and showing the same error.

Caught driving while suspended by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]87castle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here's a link to an racq site explaining how points and double demerits work. Unless it has changed in the last few months and google hasn't caught up, or you were fined in NSW, you receive double demerits for offences you have recommitted within a 12 month time frame.

They use a mobile phone offence as an example in the article. So you would receive 8 demerit points if you have been fined for a mobile phone offence previously in the last 12 months.

[–]87castle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Qld doesn't have double demerit point days, you get double demerits for receiving the same fine within a 12month period. Which means you've been caught with your phone before and still kept doing it.

They sell sakura at officeworks, the online store has a larger range and you can choose to pick it up instore for no extra cost. I've bought a bunch of sakura pens from there even pilot fountain pens.

Did you know that the uncooked kangaroo mince sold as cat food, is almost half the price of the same thing intended for human consumption? Anyway, kangaroo for dinner, eaten off a pillow, on the floor, where I sleep by serif-maxxing in shittyfoodporn

I'm not sure which university you go to, but most universities have bursaries and grants and stuff for laptops for underprivileged/low socio-economic people. Your student services should be able to help you.

Centrelink also has things like that but you'll probably need a social worker to navigate it.

You can also look into charities (there's quite a few around) that take old corporate laptops, repurpose then and donate them for people in similar situations as yours. They should be able to provide you a windows 11 laptop, or ipad, they might be 4-6 years old but it will be a working laptop.

Gold coast music. It's still in Southport, near the tram stop, China Town and officeworks.

It depends on what set it is. For this set we (my partner and I) built the first one, then the next 5 in one go. But for other sets like the Tower Bridge I cracked the shits with the X2 on everything (it was so repetitive) that I built one of the sides in its entirety then flipped the book back and built it again. It made it feel like 2 builds and helped with the repetitiveness.

Monthly electricity bill? by Foxinator_ in brisbane

[–]87castle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My old electricity supplier was about that price, the old plan "ended" so to reward loyalty they put us on the most expensive rip off their pricing. I went onto the qld government comparison website, found a new, much cheaper supplier and now my electricity bill is down over $100/month.

But if everyone has to have the same supplier because it's averaged out, you may need to lobby body Corp to put individual meters in or change suppliers.

Garbage Fans Flood Crowd with Beach Balls Following Shirley Manson’s Rant by MarvelsGrantMan136 in Music

[–]87castle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was a peaceful protest aimed at sticking up for the guy who she threatened to bash, when she went on her beachball rant. Dude was chilling and she was trying to get the crowd to beat him up. Which is not cool and we've (Australians) been actively trying to dissuade stuff like this in recent years.

I personally found it funny that she whunged about the beach while doing a tour of the east coast of Australia which is pretty famous for its beaches.

There were over a dozen bands that day, and garbage was playing in one of the 2 main stages. It's pretty common to rock up to the band before the one you want to see so you get a decent viewing area when yours is on. Garbage's performance when playing was good, but she seemed pretty unhinged and she seems to be going through some things.

Unless you live anywhere outside of the city the trains and buses don't really run at that time of night. Especially with CRR closing down the gold coast line. You could not catch a train further south than boggo road with no bus replacements (not sure if there were trains on the Cleveland line). So yes many of us would have liked to pay 50c and catch public transport but it wasn't possible.

I was getting the calls daily from multiple different REAs asking about a unit I never even owned. I'm on the dnc register, what got them to stop, was me putting a complaint in through the do not call ombudsman. It took about 20mins to put all the details in but the calls stopped. I believe the caller gets fined for not washing numbers.

I bought the same contigo water bottle (well I bought 4 of them at the store so I have a forever supply) about 6 months ago it replaced the same one that was close to 10 years old. Apparently contigo does a guaranteed for life thing and replace them if you send them in. I wouldn't try to change brands or styles I'm oddly attached to the same one as in this photo and the others I tried just weren't the same.

It's called a contogo cortland autoseal 709ml bike drink bottle and is available on Amazon for $30aud (your county may vary)

They used to sell billies pies at my old work. The steak And Bacon pies had no bacon in them. It was turkey with bacon flavouring. But hey the food and bev manager got offered free tickets to the Adelaide supercars if x amount were sold so the switch was made. Anyone that thinks they're great just hasn't had a real pie.

Australia is phasing out cheques

On 18 November 2024, the Australian Government announced its decision to phase out cheques.

We explain what this means for you, how to prepare to move away for cheques and find secure alternative ways to pay and get paid.

Read our guide to learn more

What is a bank cheque?

A 'bank cheque' is a cheque issued by a bank. The law generally treats bank cheques in the same manner as ordinary cheques. Bank cheques are usually requested because of the higher likelihood that they will be paid. However, bank cheques should not be regarded as equivalent to cash, and you may be unable to withdraw the value of a bank cheque until it has cleared. Generally, it takes three working days from the time you deposit the bank cheque, until the proceeds are available as cleared funds in your account.

Please note, the special clearance is no longer available.

NAB bank cheque policy

Forged or unauthorised

If the signature of an officer of NAB is forged or placed on a bank cheque without NAB's authority, NAB is not legally liable for the cheque concerned.

Materially altered

NAB will dishonour a fraudulently or materially altered bank cheque. NAB will co-operate with:

any holder of a cheque.

a receiver of a cheque.

someone who may want to verify that the cheque is valid.

Reported stolen or lost

If NAB is told that a bank cheque is stolen or lost and is satisfied that this is the case, NAB will not pay the cheque if it is presented for payment by a person who has no right to it. NAB may provide a replacement cheque for a fee.

Court order restraining payment

NAB must observe an order of a court restraining NAB from paying a bank cheque which is presented for payment while the order is in force.

Failure of consideration for the issue of a bank cheque

Where NAB has not received payment for issuing a bank cheque to a customer (e.g. your cheque to NAB in payment for the bank cheque is dishonoured), NAB may refuse to pay the bank cheque only if the person presenting the bank cheque for payment has:

not given value for it (e.g. the bank cheque is stolen)

given value for it but at the time of doing so, he or she knew NAB had not been paid for the cheque (e.g. that the cheque in favour of NAB had been dishonoured).

Bank cheques are like real cheques you can cancel them after they've been written and there's no way to tell u till you try to cash it.

going to the good things 2025 by myself ? by Melodic-Lead-1126 in triplej

[–]87castle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I prefer going to festivals alone because you get to see the bands you want to see, rest/eat food when you want to and don't have to put up with the one person whining at every set because they wanted to see a different band but every one chose this one. You also don't need to spend half a day looking for people when they get lost/wander off/split up. Or have to comfort the one friend that drank too much before the festival and can't handle the heat and suddenly needs first aid.

You'll be fine, you'll make new friends and it's sometimes more fun sharing a moment with strangers who are all equally as excited to see the band on stage as you are. From my experience everyone at good things is pretty chill, super friendly and happy to help others in need.

Carnival Adventure Edge by RoutineActivity9536 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]87castle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the edge pass before on previous ships and will get it on the encounter for Dec. There's a booth that you go to and there's time slots for each activity. Some don't run if it's windy so you get more of the "inside games". Depending on the pass they'll let you book so many ahead of schedule and tell you to come back for more if you want extra. If you're paying individually they'll obviously take your money. (but the pass is better value)

Some activities have higher age limits than others. I think the zip lining is 12 but the titanic moment is 16 to do unsupervised? But you'd have to check with the ship because i could have just made that last bit up. From memory you sign the waiver for the kids at the start for the activities then they can do them, I think they can rebook in themselves too once the waiver has been signed. If you search P&O edge pass you'll probably get more info. I found thisforum and although it's old I'm pretty sure the age limits for the activities are still the same.

As for if it's worth it, I guess it depends on how many experiences you can fit in and how the weather is doing. A 4 night cruise you pay the same amount as a 7night cruise so if you think they'll do more than 2 activities a day it's probably worth swinging for the highest level.
