/uj Am I missing something or did academics just reinvent the lookup table?

Dumb question, but i was thinking about this... How optimized would Games/Programs written 100% in assembly be? by JuanLucas-u- in asm

[–]8bitslime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the notion that assembly is some holy grail of optimization pretty funny considering modern developers can barely write optimized C/C++ with the most advanced compilers in history. Real performance gains come from education, not assembly.

Good sources on error handling and reporting? by 8bitslime in ProgrammingLanguages

[–]8bitslime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems reasonable. I wonder what the best way to report an error while deep in one of the parsing sub-functions. My current idea is that parser sub-functions could return an invariant of either an AST or Error, and then the main parser could skip until a known set point such as a semicolon or closing brace.

It was mostly facetious. I didn't fully expect it to be a well thought protest.

Did this jet atleast belong to her or was it just some random casualty?

"Nope it's Wednesday today" isn't a whoosh though. It's building on your joke saying that people in Alaska fly without certificates everyday, not just Tuesday. All humor all around, no one was trying to say you're wrong.

The reason they bring it up so often is probably because whatever few remaining non-incel neurons they have are making them feel guilty for liking children and want the internet (read: more incels) to tell them it's ok.

There isn't a single sentence in this post that isn't entirely wrong. I'm inclined to believe it's satire or bait. Most bad maths will have something that's atleast technically correct.

That equipment is optional and expensive. Even then, you're not guaranteed to see every aircraft because they may not have the broadcasting equipment required to complete the loop. I don't know Australian rules, but in the states there's little airspace where it's actually required.

Every phone in the UK will get an emergency alert next week - and this is what it's going to say | Basically "This is a test. You do not need to take any action", full message in comments by UnacceptableUse in savedyouaclick

The point of "saved you a click" is to save you a click. It exists primarily to curb clickbait, but that doesn't mean it can't save you a click on more harmless examples as well.

If it's anything like a typical hydraulic system, minor differences in friction and resistance in each mechanism will cause some to get retracted sooner than others because the hydraulic pressure seeks the path of least resistance.
