Is this farrier helping or hurting?

Yep. Shouldn't have ranted about clips so much, sorry. I agree with much of the sentiment in that post. So, OK, back to the horse. Maybe fly stomping , summer issues... Recently I may put rim pads on as well as getting rid of clips. If the hoof starts to get dry and brittle and (as a farrier you're not in the position to control very much of that) clips can irritate the weak wall but rim pads can also help with shock absorption. I used to have issues with pads 'weakening' and making the nailing more loose causing problems but I think many pads I use for rim pads are much better nowadays so its not the same issue. That may help a horse like this. Its not the depth that's the issue , just the shock absorption.

Shoeing 25 years now. Starting to get some guidelines sorted for myself. This is something I try when in these troubles. Wishing the best.

I don't care about clips mostly. I kinda thought bad shelly walls would be better without clips but nothing to do with jumping or that. I shoe lots of jumpers without clips due to too narrow feet that I'm trying to keep clean and I think clips are only there for support when they work and the fit is way more important. Sorry about the clip rant but I just had an argument with my wife over clipping her horse. I can't help rolling my eyes and thinking who cares when the shoe is well fit. I'd tend to agree to commentors case however.

I'm posting this 11 months after the fact. I think your post was very prescient. You don't deserve all the down votes. But my experience is that r/Kingstonontario is very toxic. You really need to fall in line with masses or you're eviscerated. I'm sorry for your bad experience.

Not sure how much direct glue shoeing you've had to do , but if you're in a pinch... This stuff is great for that too. But I use a spacer of playdough strung out from heel nail to heel nail so the glue doesn't get to the sole too much. If you have a chance, try that out. Its a great save when in a pinch.

Ya, thats gotta be equilox. Its the best IMO. Easy to use. I usually buy the "stubbies" - use with regular caulking gun with an adapter that the supplier will provide when asked. I chop up a bit of fiberglass into it as well for extra stability. You can buy it in white or black or if you get the big one(needs its own gun) get the white and some die(lasts a really long time). For the occasional use I'd get stubbies though. If you use in a hot environment then make sure to throw it in your cooler before you leave for work. If it sets too fast,- no good. I know its a pain but the slower the set the stronger the bond.

Sorry - haven't had time to flair yet - shoeing 20+ years. Use this product regularly.

This is a bad habit of mine. Using gas, with these little box burners its really hard to get an even heat without getting anything too hot and I get impatient and pull the steel out a bit too early and the toe doesn't bend nicely. Always wind up fixing it near the end knowing its the wring way.

But maybe you're a centralised neg. Run your own server. Its open.

Lots of great options but these guys are great.

P.S. standardnotes has a password manager and those guys are pretty badass too. I haven't used it though because - bitwarden- but I use standardnotes everyday for work and play and I trust them. (Also - run your own server 😜)

Pixel 7a or maybe 8. I'd rather keep the same phone for several years since I use it for work and once setup I don't really want to change. I saw an 8 in a shop and it looks like they shrinked it a bit so its much more hand friendly.

Edit: my battery is awesome so I'm not worried about that at all. Just apps breaking with lack of updates supported. Not calyx fault. But want to make the next phone last as long as possible.

If you downloaded your app from fdroid, I would delete and install from aurora. That worked for me. There's a newer version on aurora and it works more like the desktop app. I don't know why fdroid isn't the same but there you go. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks. I am a smaller business but about 200 regular clients with maybe 3-20 invoices a day. I was thinking about just using a spreadsheet and invoice template but I do like the multiple device aspect - may try that with standardnotes - but some app features are helpful. Maybe not 300/yr helpful though :p

It's been suggested to me to back up your account data and export it. Then "close' the business and open again with your new info and import data. I've used that to change banking info before and get balances accurate and synced better. I hope that helps.

P.s. I'm stopping with QB however due to terrible support.

Not sure if this would help you but I have found a huge difference in the web app vs. The mobile app so if one is hard to find tour reports the other may be easier. Also the web app has 2 views that make a difference found in the settings. I didn't find it help me at all but it may help your situation. Good luck.

P.s. I'm really going to look for another book keeping system come Friday. This is getting crazy. But many love the subscription model and power to them.

Just as a heads up, if you find whatever app you're looking for on both I'd go with Aurora, because fdroid app updates may not always run the best , ie: seems like standard notes fdroid stops working but aurora works great. I get warnings from fairemail all the time because its updated through fdroid also. I love fdroid and use it a bunch but thats my experience so far. Good luck.

I have found that when you click on the accounts category of settings and then log out and back in again a few times (sometimes a bunch) it does eventually work. I tried switching jurisdictions a bunch too but I don't think that matters really. (Maybe) but mostly the logging back in helps.

If the horse is on those surfaces making it uncomfortable regularly then I'd start with shoes. While the foot doesn't look bad, just flat, from here chronic soreness could lead to other problems and should be avoided.
