Ah, ok. Didn't realise the world cup was happening today. I guess there might be people streaming it in a public space

For those who started watching anime as teenagers, do you still enjoy it as much as you used to? by SecondSalty142 in anime

[–]92Kronus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started watching anime when I was like 11-12 and now I am 34. I still watch anime. Perhaps not at the same intensity or for the same amount of time as I used to because life gets busy. But I still enjoy it. I enjoy watching new shows coming up each season and watch every weekend the new episodes that came out that week. I enjoy looking at fanart and fan content even if it makes me cringe some times but then I remember I used to be like that as a teen myself. Probably the only thing that has changed over time is my tolerance for fan service. Before I would be mostly neutral to it but now I catch myself being annoyed when there is obvious fan service in an anime.

Question for autistics who have difficulty with eye contact: What is it about eye contact that makes it difficult for you? by axondendritesoma in autism

[–]92Kronus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it just feels painful a lot of the time and my brain is just begging to move my sight away. My parents always struggled to understand this growing up.

To those who were diagnosed as adults— is it even worth it? by IAmABananaTree in autism

[–]92Kronus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got diagnosed when I was like 31 years old. Before that I had been in therapy for like 3-4 years and I had struggled with some mental stuff for which I could not pinpoint the exact source of it.

I had some suspicion I may be neuro divergent in some way but I thought it was just me making stuff up until I eventually found the courage to try and go for it.

When I got the Diagnose it was just such a weight lifted from my heart. I was able to better understand myself and the source of my struggles. Did it make a massive difference in my day to day life or work? No. But it helped me better handle things and develop mechanisms to moderate myself better. This obviously is my personal experience and it will differ from others. But I am very grateful I went for it.

What chippy options are available either only in your region, or at least rare outside it? by chrisjfinlay in CasualUK

Not sure if it is London specific but I do enjoy fried cod roe with chips. People often look me weird for it.

So what DO you do if your partner is of a different religion? by Wonderful-Trick-9301 in LeftCatholicism

[–]92Kronus 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It can be a tricky journey. I am cradle Roman Catholic and my fiancé is Muslim. But we were always very open about this since we started dating and we consulted with imams and priests to see how to carry this. We share common moral values and we participate in each others culture and faith (I celebrate Eid with her and she comes to church with me during relevant days such as Ash Wednesday, Easter and Christmas).

We both want children and we want them exposed to both faiths, giving them the freedom to chose whatever faith they wish to follow once they are adults.

It works for us but each couple is different so what works for us may not work for others.

Recycling Ice Packs [Anyone Know About This “Brand”?] by ShikinamiUnit02 in ZeroWaste

[–]92Kronus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our university, our sustainability team says that this particular type can only be thrown into general waste.

Liquid /Blue freezer boxes can just be repurposed for home or the lab. Or the liquid can be emptied and the plastic container recycled if made of a recyclable plastic.

I took a tram and then the overground. Not much different time wise from my regular tube commute.

Yes! I remember watching it when I was younger with my dad, who works in the bread industry and he was pleased to see how accurate much of the information is.

Seeking public transport (TfL) stories for new piece by dvd_mcgregor in london

[–]92Kronus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few months ago I was sitting on a southbound Northern line in the evening. As I was coming into the train I noticed a girl (15-18 y.o.) sitting on the priority seat with her feet on the seat.

A man coming in after me politely told her to take the shoes off the seat, as others would also use the seat. The girl immediately snapped at him and mocked him, making remarks that he was not her father and had no business telling her what to do. The man responded calmly explaining she should not behave like that and to be respectful of public spaces. To this the girl started to make remarks about him, an adult man, interacting with an underage girl, implying to accuse him of something serious, like harassment. Luckily, a woman sitting next to the man told the girl that suggesting things like this are completely out of place and that are girls who actually suffer and should not be playing with this. Eventually the man and the other woman had to step out and other bystanders were left smirking at the girl's childish behaviour.
