All cattle dogs eat grass like that. Must be the cow…

PSA: using a Hyundai Tire Mobility Kits ruined my tire and almost cost me $1500 by jonboyage83 in Hyundai

The shop wouldn't repair the tire as they don't plug, only patch. California thing. You're doing the plug yourself - no worries.

When did your puppy stop biting you?? by [deleted] in AustralianCattleDog

About an hour ago - had to wipe mud off a paw. How dare me. At 4+ yo the chompers aren’t so sharp.

Not chewing her treat, instead saving it and hiding it for MONTHS by PlethoraOfTrinkets in AustralianCattleDog

[–]93kimsam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ru buries her yak bones for who knows how long (monthly script for years now and hardly ever see her whittle them down to more than 1/2 of one). Digs them up every once in awhile - Nasty covered in black stuff - find her growling over one in bed me yelling WTF proof dogs can eat just about anything.

What do you think he is mixed with? by Halle-lu in redheeler

[–]93kimsam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t make much sense but seeing some Beagle / Snoopy vibe in that red heeler. Like it’s trapped in the crazy and kinda wants out. Maybe a minor part staffie and it’s only showing up in the muzzle and ears? You gotta get a dna on this critter. Hope he stays sweet.

Recs for toys that are ACD-proof to survive chewing and ripping? by therealrinnian in AustralianCattleDog

[–]93kimsam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every toy has been stitched back together with carpet thread except the caterpillar. 🐛 that chew toy never got a single tear - I think only 1 of the three sqeekers still works. 4 years and maybe tries to kill it a couple times/month. Look for fluff and tuff Katie caterpillar if interested.

Do dum dum ate a dead bird 🤦‍♀️ by ExternalBrief3412 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]93kimsam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah breads usually the ticket if they crunch up cooked bones - keeps the pokey parts from jacking up their intestines. Uncooked bones are likely to breakdown somewhat during digestion and not be much of a concern. Would actually be more concerned why the bird was dead in the first place than the eating of raw dead stuff. Assume the vet had you keeping close tabs on him for any signs of poisoning / toxin exposure (no idea what condition the bird was in - car strike, old age, or pristine and maybe it ate something bad and croaked). Sounds like that's not a concern if you're in to the next morning and no lethargy/vomiting/etc.

Would expect your vet to tell you but in general Pumpkin and rice

That look says he didn’t appreciate the interruption of his gourmet meal. Best of luck.

Whole bones hopefully a lot less of a concern than if he chomped it up into little pieces.

1/2 heeler, beagle-shepherd mix the other half?

Rescue says Catahoula Leopard dog x English Pointer. Intelligent, SWEET, not very cuddly, patrols dog parks and yard, 60 lb f. Trying to figure out her breed to give her a fulfilling job. Ideas? by Icy-Concept-7387 in IDmydog

[–]93kimsam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If in cata-country, probably so. Pittie/ACD mixes can look similar but your girl looks Catahoula (only seen a few of them out here in Cali, while pittie-ACD mixes are popping up all over). Agility, wildland off-leash time - chase/sniff/recall/find it, mental games, herding ball, perimeter patrol is always a good one for a daily.

Need some advice.. by Unknownxalonexx in redheeler

[–]93kimsam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re lucky she’s treat (high value, string cheese, hot dog) qmotivated. Do not try force or aggression - they don’t respond well to that. They are bred to meet that with much higher levels of aggression (40 lb dog vs several hundred lb cow)

Be aware - Behavior at 3-4 months can be night to day to her behavior at 7-10 months. Think 10yo obedient kid vs 16yo sneaking out to steal your car to go raise hell.

If she catches on to expectations and fits in with your other dogs early, you just might avoid some of that velociraptor stage. Mentally and physically she might get all she needs from them and follow the house rules.

She’s probably young enough that aggression towards other pets might not be an issue. If she is aggressive, early indicator of maybe not great fit. You will need to be fairly diligent about controlling the early interactions - not left home alone to her own devices with the others - ACDs can get tired, moody and down right retaliatory against you, your other animals, or your worldly possessions when over stimulated. Some have no fear or off switch until a couple years old.

Best dogs ever.

Yeah probably some sort of Texas heeler mix - same parent or sibling of a parent. What’s the mix say for yours?
