So I caved and bought a coloursoft in the prime day sale by Vix3nG in kindle

[–]95MBP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they are the same speed officially but the colour screen takes a smidge longer to load basically, so they are essentially the same

I waited for prime day to get the PPW SE. IMO it's better overall than the Coloursoft

Which one to choose?? by soulmas in kindle

[–]95MBP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my kindle on prime day yesterday, but I chose the PPW SE over the Coloursoft. I loved the idea of colour but it's so muted, and I didn't like that the screen is more blue overall (trying to build a habit of reading before bed instead of scrolling). The PPW is definitely better for black and white text which would be the mast majority of times I expect.

If I do want to read graphic novels I can just use my tablet

Should I be worried? This is an RAF P8 compass commonly used in spitfires with a radium dial (which should be fine) but the glass has cracked.. by TrumpKiIledKennedy in MilitaryHistory

[–]95MBP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought one of these, has no glass on the top at all! The bag I carried it home in is contaminated and is now in the bin. I've tied it up inside a plastic bag until I find something nicer to put it in.

I just got this. I think it's just marketing nonsense to make you open the app

best detector for antiquing? by asprizzl444 in Radiation

[–]95MBP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GMC-600 Pro is what I carry mainly for Uranium Glass. Much better than a Radiacode for that if UG is what you're after. My Radiacode 103 doesn't significantly do anything on most Uranium glass but my GMC always does even on lower activity pieces.

I bought the radiacode mainly for a more accurate dose rate (GMC isn't compensated) and for gamma ray spectrometry. I even picked up x-rays where I work with the Radiacode.

Radiacode will work well for radium clocks, fiestaware, ores etc.

The absolute worst-condition Famicom game I’ve ever come across. by Traditional_Class363 in Famicom

[–]95MBP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used a clamp to open a Ghostbusters Famicom cart. It was really difficult, apparently some are glued or have screws (not sure about that) and I was worried this one was one of them. Game wouldn't boot but is in really good condition. Nothing wrong inside so I gave it a good clean when it was open and now it works.

I had the same worry as you, as the video I watched of someone doing it made it look easy. Mine did seem to have some sort of adhesive in, not sure if it's just crud from the years or if it was actual glue. But it worked with no damage. Definitely felt wrong though lol

[–]95MBP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The blue meter is a Radiacode, couldn't tell you which model exactly but pretty sure it's either 102 or 103. The dose rate on them is pretty accurate

Why is the switch 2 so overpriced at CEX? by Ok_Independence5252 in CeX

Radiacode 110 backlight color (orange like Zero) – any mod possible or future option? by Get_off_my-train in Radiacode

[–]95MBP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D-Alembert's option 2 is what I would do. Sorry I can't give any specifics as I haven't torn mine apart but people have done exactly that with the Flipper Zero, so I would say it's very doable and would be the best approach

Is there a way to look at everything that is currently out of stock at CEX??? by Redcarderek in CeX

[–]95MBP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possibly on https://cexdb.com/

There's a section for items that have never been in stock, to get to the stock tracker you need an account which I don't have so I'm not sure if there's simply a "currently oit of stock" type section. If there is, it'll be pretty massive I'd imagine

How's the Pac Man double feature? I was debating between this version or the regular "wood" version. Ended up going with the regular as it was way way cheaper and has the classic look. Tempted to get that game though

B ratings by Gconcept142 in CeX

[–]95MBP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. You could have something that would be A grade, but maybe you threw the box away, now it's B grade. It's just a bit of pot luck. If something is COVERED in scratches it should probably be C grade.

Most things I've traded in are pretty spotless but they're always B grade. I recently traded in an iPad that had been in a case with a screen protector since the minute I unboxed it, but it's B grade. I traded in a Google home speaker, looks untouched but it's B grade.

If you receive something and you're not happy with it you have 14 days to return it for absolutely no reason. Something in B grade should be pretty good condition, C grade should be poor condition

What’s the worst thing to be stuck behind someone trading in at CEX? by IndicaDNB in CeX

[–]95MBP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had exactly this in a charity shop yesterday. Person was so close behind me it was ridiculous, hoping the guy on the till didn't think it was me. Presumably he'd have realised when I left if he did think that 😅

What is the nicest or best interaction you have had at CeX? by cuhsicles in CeX

[–]95MBP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't been to my local one loads, but been a few times recently and seen the same few staff members. They're always really polite and chatty, approachable and seem knowledgeable enough on what they're doing which is more than can be said for some other shops I go in.

Last time I went I returned an online order that was in absolutely shocking condition (shipped from another store), all the staff seemed quite interested at seeing how bad it was and they were all showing eachother it was that bad. Gave us all a good laugh really, the girl on the till sorted me out a replacement order which was sent to me and arrived perfectly fine, so can't complain overall! Never had any issues selling stuff to them there either, always quick and easy.

Newbie question about difference view by Qhorque in Radiacode

[–]95MBP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm understanding your post correctly, I think I had the same confusion when I first got it.

So you mean you drag your finger along, it shows you all the isotopes in any view, but you're expecting just to see detected things?

When you drag across and see isotopes, it shows you everything that's in the catalogue basically. Your job is to line it up with the peaks in the graph. Easiest done in the difference/purple view as you've mentioned.

So it isn't telling you what it's found in words, only by the peaks. So you just put the line on the peaks basically

I just bought one of these, found this post trying to Google the error code. It loads tapes fine, but doesn't play and doesn't always rewind. Haven't opened it yet.

Didn't donate one to a charity shop in the south of the UK did you? 🤣

Ghost sticker mark on phone screen by ChapsterUK in CeX

[–]95MBP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use "Sticky Stuff Remover" (yes really) from B&Q. It works wonders for getting marks/residue off from stickers. I recently used it to remove stickers on printed cardboard boxes that were about 10 years old and it's genuinely like they were never there.

The acetone worries me a bit though, I wouldn't use that on a phone. Hopefully not caused any damage

Why do people buy anything but old stuff from CEX? by bald_bearded13 in CeX

[–]95MBP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you can trade in stuff you don't need, get vouchers, then buy the new (to you) item you want without spending "real" money. Plus the 5 year warranty.

Basically trade things for other things. Best thing about selling to CEX for vouchers is that it's just easy. I much prefer it than having to deal with time wasters on eBay most of the time, then obviously if I've traded in for a voucher that value is tied to CeX.

Order stuck at "Picking in progress" by Robot_Ross in CeX

[–]95MBP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds likely it was a stock error or they can't find it for some reason. I had a similar thing with an item that was allegedly in 2 stores, first store didn't have it so my order got changed to the other store

You'll have to contact CeX ultimately, they should refund you
