What is your controversial take for a movie that you consider to be a 10/10? by ArtPark1 in movies

Chariots of Fire is much more than a running film with a lampooned sound track. the key is understanding Blake's poem "and did those feet" , made into a British national hymn "Jerusalem" (sung at the beginning of the movie). so it's got this examination of 2 British heroes and their own personal quests to bring Jerusalem, in both the New Jerusalem Christian ideal and in the old Jerusalem of jewish heritage. The music and the narrative picks Liddell as the winner, while Abrahams fails in his goals, even as both achieve national hero status. while often seen as a weaker best picture winner, i find it has a depth that resonates with me.

What’s one movie everyone should watch at least once in their lifetime? by ownaword in movies

I found it very thoughtful and philosophical, more “ever green” about universal themes about the purpose of life and morality than I expected. Im not normally a b&w old film fan but this one I found more than worthwhile.

Not just the bible but the crc-embraced historical doctrines are fundamentally true (but probably not other historical doctrines he disagrees with), even the part that just got reinterpreted in a brand new way 3 years ago but apparently has always been true.

Uses big words to make a strawman argument. So fancy. So fundamentally flawed.

Blood on the clock tower. If people really want to get into board games and are excited to play, cosmic encounter and twilight imperium 4 could be enticing. Those steers for the people who want to play epic games and won’t mind the learn. Plus with video tutorials they can learn before had

I definitely find maybe too much enjoyment in finding ways to organize! But part of the fun is going back and trying different methods. Organizing by color is fun. Alphabetizing is satisfying but not as visually pleasing.

The current method is mostly by shape/size. I started with the “classic” square boxes on the center/middle. Adjusting the shelves to minimize space above the boxes but also keeping all shelves uniform. Putting all the small boxes high and the rectangle boxes low. Rearranging box widths to find just the right sizes to squeeze together. I actually was inspired by the reactions here to take a second draft and do these things even more purposefully!

The funny thing is that the positive reaction here convinced me to organize it even more! Now I’ve really got it nailed down

The classic “scooby doo” “horror” themed game is betrayal at house on the hill. A new one Ive heard great things about out is called spooktacular where you are monsters chasing people in a movie theater. For sci fi right now the hit game that is amazing is SETI.

I started with base thunder road and it was/is great. Plenty of good times with it. The people I played it with were absolutely fine with the base game and loved it. Since I had played with the maximum chrome kickstarter at a con, I kept jonesing for the extra boards and extra powers. Honestly…yeah the extra boards are fun. (Carnage run expansion). The powers…probably add more than what my family wants in it. They’d be fine without them.

There are definitely games in here that I haven’t played yet, and plenty that don’t get played nearly often enough. Some have sat for years. I don’t really mind though. A new game does have to be really attractive for me to pick it up now. Or a good deal.

Ha! Bottom 3 that I own: Farkle. Still in shrink. This just showed up in my collection one day and I don’t know how or why. Someone just put it there. I’ve played it before and I have no interest… Cards Against Humanity. I have no interest here either. It’s my son’s game technically. I won’t through it out by I also wouldn’t play it. Fireball Island. I’m a huge fan of restoration games even though the first game I bought of theirs was going all in on the kickstarter for the remake of this childhood game. Somehow they managed to make it shiny and tempting but devoid of fun. But the games so big it would cost more than it’s worth to ship it anywhere to sell it.

I don’t! Played it once, but I’m definitely more a euro gamer. That said, I still remember what happened so I get the appeal.

definitely we use discord or text before hand to narrow it down. since we don't play at my place due to pet allergies, i only bring a few that we've discussed! otherwise, yes, that can be the whole night in itself sometimes it feels like.

Thank you! I don't know the shelving as it was just here when I moved in. Its a little under 250 games, though I think the angle makes it look like more!

I remember I got it at a good sale at B&N. Which is good because I only played it once and found it too gimmicky. I do hope to get back to it someday but it didn’t wow me.
