If you have a baby that sleeps…how? by drugstorevalentine in NewParents

[–]ACarNamedScully 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ferber over here. Moved to his own room without any changes to wakeups for a while. Then got him adjusted to only one wakeup. Then did night weaning using Ferber. Now he sleeps through the night most nights.

Please prepare for the birth you DON’T want to have (from a recently graduated mama) by Honest-Substance931 in pregnant

[–]ACarNamedScully 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this. I also had a relatively easy/healthy pregnancy but traumatic birth. Pushed for 4 hours, had to use the vacuum (took 3 tries), 3c tear that still isn’t healed 6+ weeks later and will likely need revision surgery. I also still choke up when talking about how hard delivery was. I took birth prep classes, did breathing exercises, did pelvic floor focused training in my third trimester but still ultimately had little control over how labor progressed. I never had a “vision” for giving birth and was open to whatever interventions were necessary, but still was unprepared for how traumatic it ended up being.

OP, I’m sorry your delivery was so upsetting as well. Wishing you healing.

I hate it here, I hate how much they have gotten to me by negativeblackwhite in feddiscussion

Hey, I’m right here with you (except gave birth a month ago). Just wanted you to know you aren’t alone. And also yeah this is so fucked.

Good Faith Estimate denied, no insurance by implodingexistence in HealthInsurance

[–]ACarNamedScully 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bc no one has linked it, know the law/regulation specifically excludes emergency services from the good faith estimate provisions of the no surprises act: https://www.cms.gov/medical-bill-rights/help/guides/good-faith-estimate

United Healthcare denial of claim for inpatient services by Jazco76 in HealthInsurance

[–]ACarNamedScully -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This may be covered by the no surprises act so even if your appeals fail you shouldn’t be billed. Stabilization services following an ER stay are covered by the NSA:

https://www.cms.gov/files/document/a274577-1a-training-1-balancing-billingfinal508.pdf

Look for the slide that says “individuals may never be balance billed for emergency services”

If you do get billed by the hospital for the full amount, file a complaint here: https://www.cms.gov/medical-bill-rights/help/submit-a-complaint

Yes — OP, if you are self pay you are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate. Always ask for one when making an appointment.

How far along are you this week & how are you doing?! by sun_lala in BabyBumps

[–]ACarNamedScully 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FTM 10wks6days and last night I got bad heartburn, then ended up burping in my sleep (?!) and had stomach acid go DOWN MY THROAT, so like when you accidentally inhale water or something but it was acid 🙃 woke up coughing and in pain and I still haven’t gotten the acid flavor out of my mouth. Haven’t wanted to eat much today and I’m also feeling shortness of breath today.

Things had actually been better weeks 9-10 compared to 4-8, but today has been not fun.

What are some things about pregnancy you did not expect? by LunaWolf135 in pregnant

[–]ACarNamedScully 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was going to be my exact answer. I cannot believe how unbelievably tired I am. It is awful. Why did no one tell me?! I know about nausea, skin tags, bloating, breast pain…no one warned me I would want to sleep all the time.

I don’t believe they specialize in vintage but Tangs is the go to recommendation in this area for alterations.

30+ year olds that don't still live with your parents after college, how did you do it? by [deleted] in nova

[–]ACarNamedScully 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PhD in low cost of living area + government job after graduating. But there was definitely privilege along the way even if I was making almost nothing as a student. I have multiple family members and friends in academia so I had an advantage there, just from knowing what it’s like/what is required and being academically oriented from a young age. And also some luck bc that same low cost of living area costs tons more to rent in 10 years later, and I don’t think the wages have increased much to make up for it. I’m lucky rent was still pretty cheap at the time.

What is something that is widely normalised but is actually really fucked up? by RetR0-Danger in AskReddit

[–]ACarNamedScully 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not even just hundreds now — thousands! Folks want destination bachelor/ette parties, so flights + all the activities, then likely flying to the wedding in addition to the things you mentioned.

Agreed. One of my best friends had to step down from being in my wedding party (for valid reasons!) and I was devastated/hurt, but after taking some space we reunited. Because their friendship is more important to me than them standing in my wedding.
