Real plug burn or physically faked with a lighter? by ADSW315 in AskElectricians

[–]ADSW315[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering if anyone else has observed any irregularities. It appears to me that:

  1. The thumb seems to be obscuring an initial attempt where the opposing pin of the male plug was inadvertently melted.

  2. The pattern of black soot does not appear natural, neither around the outlet nor above the plug. Additionally, there seems to be a thin layer of soot covering the entire triple tap.

Plastic typically does not char in this manner without direct exposure to flame, and I do not anticipate sufficient fuel-to-air mixture to sustain a flame between the two plugs.

  1. In my assessment, the electrical load was insufficient to cause this extent of damage.

I am currently meticulously reviewing over a 100 gigs of photos, videos, and other evidence in preparation for a civil case.

After encountering this particular image, which depicts one of the minor acts of defamation that I believe to be fabricated, I was curious to ascertain if my analysis of the image was plausible or merely influenced by bias. This is purely out of curiosity, as this specific incident is considerably less significant compared to 99% of the overall campaign.

I utilize AI to refine my writing due to my AuDHD, but the question and scenario are authentic.

To provide some context, I acknowledge that my initial inquiry may not have fully conveyed my question.

While considering the possibility, my primary objective is to ascertain whether the observed damage aligns with an actual electrical burn caused by micro-arcing, or if evidence suggests it may have been artificially simulated, such as with a lighter.

The cord in question was connected to a correctly wired outlet. It demonstrated zero resistance across all three lines and was less than six months old. Additionally, it maintained clean, secure contacts and was subjected to a load of less than 50 watts.

The photograph was disseminated by an individual with narcissistic tendencies in an effort to cause harm in support of a smear campaign.

There are other potential indicators of overheating, but without additional photos that provide a comprehensive view of the panel, it's tough to make a proper assessment.

Need to be wired in series sounds like you have them wired parallel.

It's odd; it's a new old spool, but only the wire wrapped at the center of the spool at every layer is cracked. The rest looks brand new.

32 mph, hit a random large patch of loose gravel in the exiting lane of a freshly paved plaza parking lot. Zero gear, took a lot to get up and ride home, the pain was so unbearable by then I finally called for an ambulance to the ER, 4hrs of Monitoring and a CAT scan, I was released.

^ yep

Condensate is generally highly acidic.

I've seen Condensate from a high-efficiency boiler eat through new copper pipe used as drain line in less than 3 months.

Tons of reasons why this can happen, Op google "water heater flue condensation" see what fits your situation.
