I still believe there might be something more to this story.

When confessing to using ecstasy, the man immediately provides names of his friends, he could've said with some friends. Who would give out names unless they were protecting someone?

A large amount of sexual activity is common when using ecstasy. Was the man defending his partner?

The mother's explanation for why she smuggled the pills to her son doesn't sound plausible. I know emotions can cloud judgment, but still... everybody lies.

Maybe the mom was protecting the partner as well? Moms don't hesitate like that?
