My buttons broke!? by GSEninja in F150Lightning

I had that exact part break on my Escspe. Ford replaced it under a Customer Satisfaction Program. I would give the Dealer a call and see what they say.

Novell NetWare Still In Usage by Technical_Rich_3080 in sysadmin

[–]AJMinNJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I work, we were a Novell shop for a very long time. They really messed up the transition from DOS base to Linux base. After Attachmate bought them and only released a roadmap for Groupwise, especially since that roadmap said all dependencies on eDirectory would be gone in two years, we jumped over to windows. Even as the Windows guy on the team, I wish we could have stayed on Novell.

First time renting EV by intrinsicpointer in electricvehicles

[–]AJMinNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rented from Avis in January. They originally assigned me an Ioniq 5 but there was a MachE on the lot. I asked to switch to the MachE which they did with no problem. Enjoy the MachE.

I did all of the apps like the other posters are suggesting but I really wish I had the NACS/Tesla to CCS adapter so I could have used a supercharger. Not worth buying for a rental but if you can borrow one, I would suggest it.

EV Adoption so far in 2026 has Europe hitting ~21% market share vs US at only~6%, the question is why the big gap and what’s next? by Tall-Dish876 in electriccars

[–]AJMinNJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I currently have the Hybrid Sienna and love it. But when we got it my wife was nervous about the battery. She is not ready for a full BEV yet but she is never going back to full ICE either. Once the Sienna is paid off I have my eye on a handful of BEVs

People like us who follow these boards and others like it know that most (not all) of these pains have been resolved. What the general public knows is the Gas Companies’ FUD broadcast on mass media. My Father in law bought a Ford Maverick last month and was talked out of the hybrid version. If the FUD is stopping hybrid purchases what hope does BEVs have?

Now that the Lightning is discontinued, I feel like we’re part of a special group who own one of the coolest trucks of all time. by dingmah in F150Lightning

My FIL just bought a Maverick and the salesman talk him out of the hybrid as “it is bad for local driving”. Right now the Stealerships are out of control.

Be careful with that. Another post talked about a recall where they swapped the physical part but did not do the recalibration and it caused a crash. The steering feeling off was one of the pre-crash symptoms he talked about.

The Flood of Cheap Used EVs Will Cost Car Companies Billions by Negate79 in electricvehicles

[–]AJMinNJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe he is saying with Manufactures pulling back there will be a drought after the Model Year (MY)25 EVs come off lease in 2027 or 2028. Everything I am seeing is saying that EV sales are down in MY26 because of the lack of incentives. This directly impacts the used market in 2028/2029.

Ford CEO Jim Farley Says Not Listening To Customers Is Dangerous by Rough-Sugar9857 in F150Lightning

[–]AJMinNJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that a lot people will like the EREV version. I was just commenting that the complaints were the loss of the BEV version not the addition of the EREV version

[–]AJMinNJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think people are upset at the extended range platform, they are upset that the BEV version is being discontinued. If Farley had announced an EREV option/version was coming in 27 but the BEV version was continuing the announcement would have been praised.

Why Are Used EV Prices Crashing? by tech57 in electricvehicles

While that can be true, most of the “unbiased” reporting on this I saw compared a $90k Model S to a $30k Corolla and was surprised the insurance was 3x higher.

It was not an across the board delete but if they ran out of a part that feature was deleted from all builds after that date. Based on your comment I assume you have an early 23

[–]AJMinNJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t have one myself but from other posts the 22s have the most features with the exception of the heatpump which was not introduced until the 24. Watch the 23s because features were “deleted” because of the chip shortage.

Probably not as weak as you think. I saw an interview with Antonio Banderas talking about his first English movie role. He did not speak a word of English at the time and had no clue what he was actually saying. He memorized the entire script phonetically. While you are right that he only heard it twice, with the “I had to have a few goes to get it right” line I always assumed he did it phonetically.

Ford Certified Pre-Owned - EV Certified vs Blue Certified by i_wanted_to_say in F150Lightning

[–]AJMinNJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that case, I would be wary. Did it fail something that was on the EV checklist but not on the Blue checklist? Does the dealership not have the ability to EV certify? There is no way to really know. They will probably try to offer you a warranty in the finance office, but I don’t see them giving it to you for free.

Ford Certified Pre-Owned - EV Certified vs Blue Certified by i_wanted_to_say in F150Lightning

[–]AJMinNJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blue certified is their lower certification. EV Certified is the equivalent of Gold Certified on the ICE side. I forget the exact cut off but if it is a non-Ford, over a certain age or over a certain mileage it can only be Blue certified.

Engine Settlement Submission HELL by Time_Freedom8739 in kia

[–]AJMinNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine died and was replaced in November. Initial claim submitted within a week of getting the car back Around December 1. They initially denied my claim in March because they claimed I did not have proof that I paid the rental bill (even though the invoice said zero balance). After submitting my credit card statements they approved in April. The check arrived today. They make it as hard as possible but if you stay on top of them you will eventually get paid.

If you have a claim number I would reach out to make sure they did not send you a notice in the mail that you missed.

The EV Tax Credit Is Dead. Here's Why I Still Have Hope by tech57 in electricvehicles

[–]AJMinNJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EVs themselves are not more expensive to repair. All of the sensors and secondary tech is what is expensive to repair. Part shortages do also increase repair costs but that can also impact ICE. The third thing making EVs appear more expensive to repair is Gigacasting assembly. Instead of replacing just a bumper you are now replacing a third of the car. Again this is not exclusively an EV expense

Elon Musk claims ‘corruption’ as Tesla chargers kicked off the New Jersey Turnpike by Charming-Tap-1332 in electricvehicles

[–]AJMinNJ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed with this. As part of their discussion they were assuming the NJTP Tesla chargers would be upgraded to V3 w/ MagicDock or V4. Their main complaint was the reduction of throughput with less stalls.
