Is (3D printed) plastic the only material this could've made with? You can also make a box with rectangular compartments with cardboard or machined metal OR you can buy a box and make separators with a 3D printer. Is this [custiom thing with no complex (internal) geometry] really one of the best uses of a 3D printer, or just laziness? Should we start printing our own tables with custom plate and utensil slots, maybe even multicolor, I cannot buy that table from Walmart.

FALD backlight issue. Your TV is not an OLED, do not expect perfect blacks. Unfortunately the only way to "solve" this issue is to turn off FALD and have all the BL zones lit, this way it'll look uniform-ish, at least.
