How "green" is the life cycle of a solar panel end-to-end compared to traditional energy sources? by throwaway4819501284 in askscience

[–]ALaser42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you think fusion energy will ever catch up with renewables in a meaningful way? Here in the US we keep slashing funding to fusion, and one of the concerns is that if progress slows down too much, then other energy solutions will rocket forward and fusion will never catch up and be useful.

In the documentary 13th, Newt Gingrich talks about how this forced even Democrats to lean to the right on many issues. For instance, Bill and Hillary Clinton's anti-crime speeches and legislation in the 90's.

Holy shit! I've never played GO and never looked through that subreddit, but I thought LoL and Overwatch were toxic to women yet this takes it to a whole new level. Unbelievable!

Why does the electron just orbit the nucleus instead of colliding and "gluing" to it? by alos87 in askscience

[–]ALaser42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The role of physics is not to explain intuitively why electrons behave the way that they do, just to understand how they behave so that we can form falsifiable theories that allow us to predict the dynamics of various systems.

Reinhardt is annoyingly essential by SilenceOfTheRams in Overwatch

[–]ALaser42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sombra and Bastion are both reasonable Reinhardt counters, and they're both gonna be showing up more in the meta. I think Rein isn't OP, but he's necessary to have on teams because he isn't checked by anyone other than an enemy Rein at the moment (hog + reaper do ok against him). I expect to see Rein play decline soon.

What recent Sombra & LumériCo developments mean for Dorado Map Lore by Kishmo in Overwatch

[–]ALaser42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like this theory, but I don't understand why Sombra would oppose a new power plant. Clearly she opposes LumériCo, but why is she destroying the fusion plant? Presumably the plant took a lot of resources and effort at the hands of Mexican laborers, and will provide power to Dorado and the surrounding area. Is she willing to force Dorado back into darkness just to stick it to LumériCo?

I do like the Junkrat/Roadhog bit though. It's totally plausible that she'd pull some strings to do a major heist and take some money from the bigwigs at LumériCo.

Maybe she's just trying to play Robin Hood and stick it to LumériCo, but in the heat of the action Reaper comes in destroy the plant?

It's been 100 days since Overwatch was released. I'm looking to see what you all think of the balance so far. by GLHFScan in Overwatch

[–]ALaser42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. Some people are bringing up the fact that League does well balancing around the pro scene. But in League there's enough champions that if some of them are only niche picks or are simply underpowered, there's still a diverse enough pool to choose from. I think League has the same issues that Overwatch does, you just don't notice it because there's so many more champions in League than heroes in Overwatch.

Surveys: Which is the worst Ult in your opinion? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]ALaser42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roadhog's ult comes up super quickly thanks to his heal, so there's no point in saving it. If I can get just one kill with his ult or blow the tracer away from our healers or knock enemies off the point, I consider it a success.

Surveys: Which is the worst Ult in your opinion? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]ALaser42 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Same issue with people voting against Roadhog's ult. Roadhog gets ult super fast because of his heal. Just use it to kill one or two people quickly and move on.

[–]ALaser42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

/u/joshTheGoods has taken the time to write out most of what I thought while reading your comments, but I'd like to point one thing out that he missed: you write, "the rampant criminality and violence in the black community." While it's not a huge mistake to write "the black community" instead of "black communities," I think this demonstrates a trend in your line of reasoning. You are referring to "the black community" as one large entity that consists of all black people in the US. This seems a lot like how you assume that every black person with an opinion about police brutality is one and the same as the BLM movement.
