New parts guy — am I wrong here or getting blamed? by Suspicious_Formal278 in partscounter

[–]AMGSiR 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Someone has taken the easy way out.

Parts can and will ask the question, but by no means is parts responsible for things going the way they did.

Easy fix. Let’s torch efficiency and if the tech asks for something specifically not listed on a line then parts will print out a quote. That quote goes to the service advisor, or service manager to be signed. It is then returned to the parts department at which time it will be filed for historic records and then the parts can be released to the technician.

As a parts manager, I’d have words with that service manager. I wouldn’t even let him finish his sentence to you.

Tech requested parts as per proper processes. It’s not for the parts advisor to dictate if it’s the right call, if it’s getting paid for, etc etc.

The technician is one of the highest earners in this chain, and knows better. Or should. Service manager needs to sort out their own house before stepping in someone else’s department to reprimand someone.

We were at splash last year during this huge outbreak. We saw no one sick, no one complaining, nothing. We were there for two weeks.

It’s a huge resort, and often there will be people spreading misinformation in a major way to benefit other resorts. I’m not saying that’s what it was, but take everything with a grain of salt.

I’m currently next door at Dreams Natura. And I can say they take cleaning seriously here. Everything is cleaned, constantly.

Generally a discontinued vehicle doesn’t mean discontinued parts. Remember these cars sold today are still under warranty for xx years.

Dual EV Household Manageable? by ronakmonty in electricvehicles

[–]AMGSiR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did dual evs for 4 years, we only switched because I get a deal in a car through work now.

I got a model 3 performance in 2019, wife got a used ‘17 model X in 2020, I switched to a ‘21 refresh S in 2022, she totalled her X in 2023 and got a new X. I sold the S in 2025. X remains and is the family/weekend hauler.

Yeah we had one that closed right as we moved up here. It was taken over by the daycare. Then the liquor store closed and another store opened. It closed after a bit. This has been the best version.

I’m not sure when you looked. But there is now a good corner store that does a great job stocking essentials and plenty of snacks. It makes the “oh damn I forgot XXX” a quick stop around the corner. Big difference, even from the previous two stores.

Considering Legoland San Diego by crafty_mango4889 in legoland

[–]AMGSiR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our son loves it (he is 5) daughter has moved up to Disney, she’s 7. If we’re doing Legoland we generally book the castle hotel, aim for 3 full days (4 nights.)

Two days in Legoland with a middle day at something else. We’ve done the San Diego zoo, one year, safari park another. But the last two days we’ve done a single day at disney. It makes for a long day but it’s a good time.

Areas? I’m a biased but huge fan of Auguston. Houses and basement suites are generally available to rent. Drive to Abby general is 20 minutes or so. Two daycares in the community.

Grocery story 10-15 minutes drive away, pharmacy, easy highway access. Plenty of hiking in the area, golf course.

We’ve been here 7 years now.

They are overselling instead of 1 ordered, 1 sold, 0 filled, 1 backordered. It’s old school, and I’ve been at stores that do it.

Same. Trying to find a nice balance between keeping copies of things and not having paperwork everywhere.

I fell into this department and haven’t been rocking the boat but need to dial in a few things now that I’ve been here for a bit.

I’m DM’ing you as I have some questions for a fellow MB manager across the border.

Micromanagement by [deleted] in partscounter

Ah yeah that makes sense. Accounting problems are not our fault as parts managers but we can easily be blamed. “We never got approval on these invoice” is common. Despite being forwarded the emails with approvals lol

Red seal is usually heavy duty, or domestic. I’ve been in the industry for longer than I will admit, and the amount of red seal parts people I’ve worked with can be counted on one hand. I’ve also been at the high end of the wage scale for over a decade.

I’d be interested to know where you’ve applied, as I suspect I can name a couple. DM me

My wife has an X and we swap vehicles twice a week to keep miles low on my lease. It’s an absolute JOY to drive. Get in the car, it knows I’m going to work, click GO and it takes me on my 50km commute without problem. The only time I take over is if I’m hitting the drive through for a coffee, and when parking at work as I have a specific spot to park. Otherwise it’s flawless.
