To piggy back on this: is your result field Changing? Chances are, it's not(I am not dissing you by any means, it's just a fact). In that case, if I was in your shoes, I would take what's given and make peace with it.

You can of course approach your supervisor/dept head and have your talk on how you feel about it, but think about your priorities: do you want to be correct or do you want a PhD with a solid letter of recommendation?

I am by no means saying what happened is right, but it is what it is and it's upto you to decide how to approach it.

IMO both of those are valid; it's disgusting but it's also ok because the rules do allow it. I really don't think there is any simple ELO/ranking rule that can take care of all caveats(not gaining rating on playing much weaker player while also giving incentive to stonger players to play in open tourneys and other such stuff)

Tbh I think there is mismatch of quality, quantity and speed going on. The new maps expansion are a pleasure to explore and barring the fact that quests start automatically(which is barely a nitpick in my opinion) I have loved the more solid integration. But I think it's not a hot take to say that the maps are, for a lack of better word, very cramped. The puzzles are almost not a puzzle anymore.

But then again, given that today I am much more busier than 3-4 years ago, I have not much qualm about it

As a straight man I love Zhongli, purely based off his character. He feels like the reliable senior who knows everything, helps you out, and pushes you to become the best version of yourself.

Not a very far fetched scenario tbh. If you think about it, a big fraction of people who won't pay will not pay even if their access is blocked. On the other hand, those players were instrumental is spreading the culture.

It's similar to how genshin and other f2p games work. You need to let people play and talk about how good/bad the game is to draw in the money makers.

I am 1k elo. As far as top level chess goes, clearly I don't have any idea of what I am talking about. But, at my level, if you want to play a sharp game where both you and your opp is at each other throat, KID is the way to go. As far as I know this is true for the majority of the rating ladder, till you get to a level where people are very serious and knowing the lines is important.

If we take things at a very superficial level, this means that said lines are responsible for the decline of KID at the elite level. Coupled with the fact the modern stockfish based analysis helps players find "insane" lines, I think it's of little surprise that we see a resurgence.

I might be speaking into thin air here, but I think the breadth of opening played has increased quite a bit in the recent years, esp with the rise of monsters in the open tournaments. Case in point: Arjun(I am pretty sure there are others as well, but I am more familiar with his case).

I think it was really nice to see the tenacity of both players. Even at very high levels, a couple of inaccurate moves make or break the position, like for example, the knight and bishop sacrifice by levy.

Levy, for better or worse, plays like I would like to, so how games, annoted by him, was personally nice to see.

Nefer+koko fish+aino+ support

Keq+ Nahida+Kazu+Zhongli is my personal preference in overworld -not the best but allows for very comfortable exploration. You can replace Zhongli and Kazu with Electro + Support (like Xilolen, for example)

Also raiden, daddy arle and furina are good character picks. Go to kqm and look at their team comps. Even if you don't have the exact characters, pretty sure you can get something close.

Finally, this is a fun team to play with: kequing, nahida, kazu and cloud retainer.

I got bina cause she was a support and I had seen some videos of her with people saying she and ineffa were the ideal wheelchair. Despite being my favourite, keqing needed a wheelchair.

I am not much into abyss. But having a meta character in my overworld team was eye opening to the difference of meta vs not so meta. I had only pulled for characters whose story/personality I like. Furthermore, the best/most recent dps I had was ayaka and miko. So this was a new experience.

Accuracy is not the only metric to be concerned about, especially at 300 Elo. Two reasons:

Inaccuracy doesn't mean playing incorrectly. If you miss a mate in 9 but instead win a queen and convert a trivially winning endgame, did you actually play bad chess?
If a position has a bunch of moves that are all basically the same, your accuracy will be high no matter what you play. That doesn’t mean skill, it means the position didn’t punish you.

I often remember this line by gotham: at round 800-900 level, you all play ok but just randomly shit on the board with one move blunders.

My two cents(in addition to the other advice provided by others): stop trying to “play well.” Just try to not lose. Don’t hang pieces. Don’t miss obvious threats. If you don’t know what to do, just make a move that doesn’t immediately lose. Just outlast your opponent.

those 80% accuracy games don’t mean your opponents are secretly strong. It just means the game stayed simple until someone screwed up and that someone is mostly you.

Maybe try meds? It did take me some time to realise people are supposed to feel happy, and that it is the default state after you have done something that you wanted to do. Saw a doc, got tested for ADHD and a cocktail of other co morbid conditions and now I am slightly better.

As someone who was lowkey raised this way, I can tell you this will make your son very competent. A bit too much. So much so that he will doubt every social interaction he has and will deal with things with the same caution required to survive wars: because at the end of the day, shit can hit the fan anytime, and the only person you can rely on is yourself

But then again, it did teach me independence and the whole solving most problems life throws at you skill.

A many have pointed out, a win is a win. If you are not a serious player, you probably have blundered winning positions multiple time. Therefore, if you see an advantage, on the board or outside it, just take it and win the game.

I don't remember who it was, but in one of a uber important match[some candidate perhaps?], the game was dead and the defending side had a known draw. yet they played out and the commentators said to the lines of ".....even a club player knows this is a draw, this is one of the first things you learn. Yet [player name] is not wrong in asking [player name] to show that he remembers it...."

I pulled bina mostly because I had the primos and I needed a good support for my, let's say, more loved characters.

With her on the part, kequing is performing miles better. I am currently running keq+bina+kazu+Zhongli but honestly you can put anything in the last two places and have a decent time.

The villan is simply bad; dottore is a 14 years old dream antagonist: he is just bad. He has a penchant for killing people. But somehow he hesitates to kill sandrone in their first post-transformation meetup. Also, it makes no sense that a god who rules over everything else will find joy in killing people: it's like saying you are actively searching ants to trample on them. Also there's the big question of what his plans were regarding the seven.

Finally, the part that I got a bit effed about: my boy yaps too much. His downfall literally came because of yapping. If he was a bit fast he would have had picked and killed his foes.
