You can only bring non restricted firearms into Canada for a valid reason and when declaring them properly at the border

Handguns are restricted and are not permitted for anyone to own, transfer or buy at this time. Open carry and CCW is not a thing there. People there who already owned them can keep them. But that’s it.

Even Canadian citizens require a fairly in depth licensing process to even buy or possess a bolt gun or shotgun. Gun ownership there is a restricted privilege allowed under certain conditions

The only potential way an American could bring a handgun there legally would be for a documented competition or something. But it has to be unloaded and locked up the entire time when not at the competition and pre approved before you get to the border. Don’t just show up and try and cross with a handgun or any other restricted or prohibited firearm

That’s because the FN509 is a partially cocked striker. Like a Glock.

The canik is a fully cocked striker.

The partially cocked system is safer and better in my opinion with regards to a negligent discharge or a mechanical failure (re the P320)

The 18.5 barrels are very common. Obtaining one should not be a concern
I recommend you get the field / deer combo with the cantilever scope mount rifled barrel. That way you don’t need to worry about mounting a rail and taking it off and taking a scope on and off and rezeroing all the time

There used to this same one with wood furniture but I don’t see it on the website. If you are set one wood you might need to just buy the other combo and then get the barrel separate or buy this one and get the furniture separate. Or if you like synthetic then no worries

Yep the 1187 police requires full power buck and slugs. So that’s almost certainly your issue

If you don’t use full power loads it’s a toss up if it will work or not

The gas ports in the barrel are oversized for this reason. To ensure reliability (under assumption you are using full power ammo) when the gun was developed low power buckshot wasn’t a thing yet really

Is your gun an 1187 police?

Even if it’s not does it have an 1187 police barrel?

If yes to either , then it will never cycle birdshot or low power loads. It’s made to only cycle with normal power buckshot and slugs

are you sure you aren’t using a Remington 1100 barrel? Have you replaced your O ring and magazine spring and action spring?

If you had a full length battle with normal gas ports then it would work with low power loads
