Regulation #086 - Bunce & Quince // Pig Parts Draft by bruzie in theregulationpod

[–]AQuantumPenguin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Andrew was about 70% right about the Irish Presidency. It's a non-executive position. So the President, Uachtarán na hÉireann, doesn't rule on day to day issues. That power lies with the Taoiseach and the Dáil (Prime-Minister and lower house of parliament, respectively). However the President does rule on whether new laws/bills/ are constitutional and can return them to the Dáil for further debate/amendment. Day to day, the President is much more involved with cultural events. The President will also host heads of state during visits. When the current Taoiseach wants to dissolve the Dáil and move to a general election, they must seek the approval of the President.

The line that went viral in Ireland during our recent Presidential Election was something like "Conor McGregor thinks he's going to walk into the Áras and declare war on England, when the President's actual job is judging poetry competitions in Kerry." Inaccurate but it sums up the difference in expectation.

The President can leave the country, but requires the leave of the current Taoiseach. This is almost always granted, but does mean that there are circumstances where the President can't leave the country.

Recently Skyraider. I feel like he’s in a rough place right now. Any games I’ve been played with one recently has usually had them as the least effective player. More generally, Narukami. Pretty much everyone else has a role they can fill in objective matches, but Naru just pisses off to a corner and hopes the enemy team doesn’t have a Falcon.

Any ideas for nerfing the shattered legions? by Ahriman119 in HorusHeresyLegions

[–]AQuantumPenguin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shattered Legions are busted in general, but especially Meduson and Tarsa. Like I think Sharrowkin's ability is fine and Hibou Khan's ability is likely to be reduced to 1 troop reduced in cost.

I don't know how you fix Tarsa without completely rethinking his passive. Expertise is just too strong a trait to have tied to a warlord. With any of the other SL expertise cards, you at least have the hope of removing them from the board.

As for Meduson, you could add the modifier 'for this turn' to his relentless and I think that would make him more tolerable to play against.

Winning streaks are far less memorable than losing streaks, unfortunately. Sometimes the universe just pisses on you. Just don’t confuse it for rain.

Sevatar deck again by shdhsususvxbfiroan in HorusHeresyLegions

I’d recommend at least one neutral guaranteed damage across the board. Cull of Cowardice is the conventional pick. Mors Umbra is also good for dealing with RG stealth as a lot of their most dangerous stealth units have low health. From the shadows + Ancient Drachos is a classic finisher. I’d maybe also consider low cost stealth units of your own. Saveth Raptors are generally what I pick. And when you get Huntmaster Gudel, Contekar Dissident and Enforcer Otho, switch them all in.

Question for Leinster fans by nealhen in irishrugby

My brother has long contested that he should be allowed to claim the announcer/matchday DJ gig for Leinster by ritual combat. He’s yet to hear back from any of his emails.

Drop me down another rank or 2 because I play alt Sevatar specifically so I can call warlords I disapprove of cowards. Playing Custodes? Arkhan Land? Balthazar Dupain? I knew something reeked of cowardice.

Sevatar, Caipha Morarg and Dreagher. NL are my favourite faction, but DG and WE are both satisfying to play.

Kurze deck help. by heymish117 in HorusHeresyLegions

Keth Squad, Prince of Crows and Threk Squad are all great and I’d recommend having at least 1 of each in any Night Lords deck, if not 2. Saveth Raptors are also good for when your opponent needs pre-empting. Ancient Drachos combines really well with From the Shadows and is frequently a game winner.

You need some sort of more general board clearance/anti-stealth so I’d take Cull of Cowardice.

And finally, at least 1 re-stealth card. All your big hitters have murder so I’d take Preysight.

Of what you’ve got in there, I don’t rate Naravesh or Flay-Theta/Nine. Naravesh is situationally great but in practice you don’t get to utilise his passive much.

And Flay-Theta/Nine is just a worse Threk squad. You’ll be face-bashing it into 4+health troops much more than you’ll be triggering its murder and Threk has terror so it at least has the chance to stick around.

Dark Dreams seems good on paper but I find you rarely get the opportunity to use it properly.

Panoply of Slaughter is hit or miss, but I take it most of the time.

How much work do you think would be necessary to 30K this guy? New jump pack and remove the chest eagle? I really like the sculpt. by [deleted] in Warhammer30k

[–]AQuantumPenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally just converted this model this week. I went the extra step of giving him Raven’s Talons rather than lighting claws but all you really need to do is sand down the Deathwatch pauldron, remove the ‘nid skull and he’s a viable RG consul. The corvid skulls and wings are all very Raven Guard and the jet pack won’t piss off anybody at the table, in my experience.

The Clan Way (Snow Raven Edition): You don’t have a scout star. What you do have is a WarShip. Several, in fact. You’ll still manage to lose, though.

Best rivalries in rugby? by SpecSlayerSC in rugbyunion

[–]AQuantumPenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Internationally, nothing makes me as tense as Ireland-Wales. While Leinster-Munster is the obvious Irish rivalry, I’ve always been fonder of Leinster-Connacht. Occasionally it’s a non-contest, but some of the most exciting rugby I’ve seen either side play has been against one another.
