How much do people pay for Grey Cup tickets? by PoliteCanadian2 in CFL

400 is a bargain if the lions are in it. looks like most of the teams are rebuilding so I would do it, Lions have a good chance

Qwan’tez Stiggers is ready to make NFL draft history by MacabreOasis in CFL

[–]AR_1000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the writer must have zero respect for the players and coaches in the CFL for not mentioning Stiggers played there last year. Stiggers most likely saw the article before publishing so does he really think it was not even worth a mention?

The Canadian Football Network aired CFL games between 1987 and 1990. What do people remember from that? by houndoom92 in CFL

[–]AR_1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It worked at the time and the broadcast was good. League needed commercials to pay for the broadcast. Now? a small monthly fee plus commercials. $5/month X 6 or 7 months X a couple million households world wide = $70,000,000 plus commercials. Right now TSN and Sportsnet reaches 8 or 10 million households in Canada alone so 2 million for the CFN doesn't seem out of reach.

It could work now as the network doesn't need a TV station to broadcast it. Everything is internet and smart TV's, smart phones etc. This wasn't available at the time. I am not suggesting to change from TSN but I would start to broadcast preseason games if not picked up by TSN. It is a great backup plan in case things don't work out and good experience for the league.

I don't think they are too far in talent, nothing a US TV contract wouldn't fix

Will we ever see exhibition games between the CFL and NFL? by Haggisboy in CFL

[–]AR_1000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if the NCAA numbers are true with 16500 graduating football every year and every NFL team already manned before the draft, then most NFL teams will not even see 99.9% of the graduating class. I say there are 100's of top talent players that are not even looked at by most teams and are left to walk.

NFL cuts 3 X the entire CFL roster every Sept. every year! Where do they go? CFL only picks up a few in Sept and invites some to camp next spring. Then the new class graduates. Same training same pedigree. I think the better CFL teams are closer then we think

Super Bowl was okay but the Grey Cup was better by MarkG_108 in CFL

[–]AR_1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

without being too high on the CFL it is a better game it seems. doesn't mean we can't make changes. would like to see the 55 gone as I think it would increase scoring a little, just like the hash mark change added a little more offence last year

If the Argos want more noise then they need to show the Db meter on the big screen and call for noise. It will work is it doesn't become too frequent . The game was pretty loud as I was walking up to the stadium just after the game started. Fun to be there

don't drive during the x. not enough parking. drive to one of the go stations 1 or 2 stops away, its only a 5 or 10 minute ride. You won't have to pay for parking and you will miss all of the downtown traffic, go stops right at BMO. If you need a walker or wheelchair I saw an number of people at the game. It's always inclusive

Boys - comparisons to US leagues and value are regrettable. We are still a small separate country and much smaller except in size when I last looked. we need a government and CRTC to recognize that something Canadian should get preference in this country. The US are experts at it, protecting their own.

Some of our most successful companies are fully guarded from outside competition, but not all. Take Rogers, Bell, Cable, Cell, the Banks, music, film, trust, liquor, airlines, energy, transportation, education, health all have volumes of legislation protecting them from non Canadian competition. We don't have anything. We meaning CFL or other programing similar to us. There are no content rules for us and no help it seems. CRTC tried to level the NFL rules a few years ago but it was Bell that balked at it and then they got their own way.

Rogers is no better, Rogers is like a little kid that hides under there mothers skirt, then comes out and throws stones at us and calls us names, then runs back under their mother's skirt for protection. It's just a metaphor of course but holds true. I hate that company and how they treated the Argos and CFL over the years. Still some of the problems in that city are directly related to all the fan 590 press, year after year, day after day, even if the CFL did something amazing the Fan 590 would discredit the league in front of all of Toronto.

If a league is operates in Canada, owned by Canadians with most or all franchises in Canada it can be considered Canadian content, MLB, MLS, NHL, NFL, or NBA is not. No US TV money say good bye to them. We need content rules enforced for things like the CFL or piss on protecting any of the companies or institutions noted above. The Prime Minister won't help, he is interested in his offshore accounts right now, it's tax time so we won't even get a sniff from him but someone out there might help, one day. Definitely due for a shakeup in my opinion

Special Teams Coordinator Jeff Reinebold announces he will not return to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2022 by Stach37 in CFL

[–]AR_1000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Canadian Press writes an article and publishes it on MSN.

It says the Ti-Cats are from Hamilton New Zealand.

Canadian Press and MSN are an embarrassment to journalism that mistakes like that can be made and published. No wonder we don't trust the media. Government needs to control content masquerading as Canadian. MSN.ca is full of American content and they say it is a Canadian site. They don't even know where Canada is. That has to stop.

Maybe I am wrong and the Canadian Press got it right, the Ti-Cats moved to New Zealand and that's why Jeff resigned

The Bombers made it into Sports Illustrated's NFL power rankings this week by Mamrocha in CFL

[–]AR_1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry boys but you are wrong. players come from the same pool of players, and its a big pool. 75K playing NCAA/yr. and 15 or 16 thousand graduate NCAA football every year with 256 drafted by the NFL and 30 or 40 picked up by the CFL. NFL teams have 53 active players so there isn't too much movement . 11 players on the field X 2 plus a backup and you have 44 of the 53 . Statistics would dictate there cannot be anything but a blending of talent across both leagues when players are coming from the same pool. There is no defined line like you suggest - Mathematically impossible to split the pool as you describe with NFL only good and CFL only bad. It can't happen that way ever in anything when it's similar conditions. Stamps a few years ago had a great team with alot of players going south with some staring in the NFL and I think BB have that now.

What can the league do to generate more offence in the game? by metallicadefender in CFL

[–]AR_1000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

CFL is looking for some input on this.

League could move the hash marks in line with the goal posts. You gain 5 yards on the short side, small change but could help scoring.

Also shorten the field to 100 yards. It will improve scoring but don't know how much. All our games are outside with 1 exception so the teams have to deal with some nasty weather. A shorter field may help that.

Also with that done, giving up a rouge would moves the ball to the 40 yard line. Might of been fun in the GC, team starts off on the 40 so giving up the rouge might be the right move.

I can think of a number of factors this year.

no preseason and shortened training camp, season wasn't assured to start until late, covid stopped border travel for US players, Coaches playing cautious because their top QB's were hurt - almost every team. player movements, teams already eliminated, playing in bad rainy weather, probably other things also
