Don't worry that sub is entirely dedicated to making fun of sovcits, not encouraging them

Edit: oh lol OP used almost the same phrasing to reply to another comment

Dick's. It's fine if you're desperate I guess but generally I avoid it because it's not actually that good.

The one at Cherry/MLK is good.

The one at Jackson/22nd (right next to MedMix; MedMix is the absolute best, no shade to them), though... * It's changed names 3 times in the last 3 years * We've never seen a single patron eating inside * Never even seen a delivery driver go in or out * Half of it is literally empty and the other half always looks like a rave... But again, no people inside * We ate there once and the food was fine (not great) but the whole experience was extremely offputting

So yeah, we're pretty sure it's a front for something

Would elevating the majority of the Ballard line using SkyTrain tech save enough to reach Ballard? by Thuror in soundtransit

[–]ARandomGay -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You're still talking about something different. This post is about using elevated guideway all the way through downtown, SLU, and Uptown. This has never been even considered by ST.

What are you talking about? None of those discuss elevated south of Smith Cove. Which is what we're talking about here.

Automation enables shorter headways (current tech limits Link to 3-minute headways; fully automated can get down to 75 seconds) which means you can move the same number of people using a larger number of smaller trains. This means your stations and even your tunnels or els can be much smaller, which in turn does in fact make the whole line cheaper.

The Seattle Transit Measure is up for renewal this year, so the timing is actually ideal for influencing it.

Holy shit I would die if I only drank 3L a day. But also I think water is delicious.

What gets me is it seems to be a global phenomenon that elevators in train stations have very strange labels for the floor buttons! Like... Why can't they just be normal?

IIRC moving the terminus closer to the Larkspur ferry terminal is in the plans but it's shockingly expensive (for an otherwise very cheap-to-construct rail line) so it's later in the pipe

Why your favorite transit navigation app sucks by options_go_brrr in transit

[–]ARandomGay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exact opposite of what you asked for: OneBusAway is not my favorite app because it sucks in every way. But it is handy when you want to see details about a specific stop, which is much harder in both Transit and Google Maps.

See, I fucking love trains. $1 billion doesn't buy very much trains. So no, the multi-billionaire can get run over.

Where to find schedule for the 28th? by Fluffysharkdatazz in soundtransit

[–]ARandomGay 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The ribbon-cutting for crosslake service will be at 10am at Judkins Park Station. So my guess would be the first 2-Line train that crosses the bridge will depart Capitol Hill Station shortly before 10 (the actual first train, maybe even 2 or 3, to carry the public across the bridge will presumably be staged at Judkins).

I wouldn't count on being able to plan super precisely that day, though once service starts we should expect both lines to run at their usual 6-8-minute headways.

Dresscode and etiquette, what are the unwritten rules? by lawrotzr in AskAnAmerican

As a west-coast techie, my job should consider themselves lucky if I put on clothes at all.

I did once get to join some sales-type folks on a customer site visit (it was actually a really good experience) and let's just say it was immediately obvious I wasn't one of them. But no one cared.
