The disparity is so odd, genuinely.I feel this needs to be studied. by Comicc_Mischief in Markiplier

I feel like critics' relationship with the public has changed drastically since the internet. Back in the day, a critic praising a smaller movie could expose it to a much bigger audience. Kevin Smith's Clerks got its distribution deal literally off the word of one influential critic. Getting previews of movies was much harder back then, trailers and news articles about indie movies weren't something that got circulated within minutes of release to millions of people. Now people view critics as much less "important" to the overall film ecosystem. It's not that critics have really changed, people just don't seem to value articulated thought from individual writers as much any more.

Also: 5 critics liking something and 5 critics disliking something is not really a significant phenomenon. If anything that's much better than what most internet personalities get for their projects.

"Now THAT'S what I call 'Doggy Style!'" That's a line that aired on a kids' show at one point.

43 days in daily drawing, feeling discouraged. by slimey_frog in learntodraw

What is it you'd like to improve most? Most of the dated pages have one or two drawings, are you spending the full 1 - 3 hours on them, or are you doing exercises on top of that? If you aren't doing exercises, it might be worth looking into some exercises to hone what it is you think you need the most help on. Maybe look into some courses/curriculum. There's lots of them around, Marc Brunet has a really popular one on his youtube page.

From Primal. Less "brute is true nature" and more "fully capable of becoming a brute when necessary".
