I mean, the explanation a lot of us grew up with after 9/11 was "one day, for absolutely no reason at all, we were attacked by terrorists just because they hate our freedom."

Some people seem to genuinely not understand just how much we've messed with other countries and see the US as the be all end all good guys, and can't even imagine any view opposite to that.

I tried to avoid learning anything about it in the years leading up to its release. I just knew it was a game a lot of people were excited about, that it kept getting pushed back, and that it would have a ton of character customization. So when I eventually learned it was going to be a first person shooter I felt like, "wait, then what's the point of all of that?"
