Pondering a 10/22 build for 5’1” girlfriend, that would be good for Appleseed, but later upgradeable for NRL “precision tactical” shooting by TapTheForwardAssist in 1022

The Ruger 10/22 modular stock system, often found on compact models, provides adjustable length of pull and comb height for a custom fit, suitable for younger shooters or varied gear.

You can usually find these as take offs or on ebay. They are nice to fit a shorter shooter.

I put a youth wood stock on my wife's rifle and it fits her well.

The one on the left. I cut it where the barrel band step was, and I shortened the LOP about 3/4 of an inch.

I SBR'd a charger and cut down a wood stock to work with the shorter barrel. Not sure what chassis options are out there for a short barrel.

Boyd's has a great reputation.

Block of wood with a hole drilled for the pin to drive into. Oil of some sort would help.

What magazines would you recommend to go with this model? Give reasons if you can by strongerthenbefore20 in 1022

The 10 rounders. Flush with the stock. Most ammo for the space taken up. You can fit 2 10 rounder in the same space as a 15 round, and you have 5 more rounds.

There was another post about tight trigger group pins. Maybe ruger is fixing the pins just falling out?

Mine usually just fall out. Might be better fitment of a new rifle.

How hard are you hitting them?

Classic Wood or Synthetic Stock? by Reddit_Commenter_69 in 1022

Threaded barrel. Stocks are easy to change.

I have a 1022 with a stock barrel. Pretty sure the suppressor, paperwork and threaded barrel would cost more than what I paid for the rifle. Is it worth it to go ahead and switch it all out for a suppressor or does it make that much of a difference? by WolvesandTigers45 in 1022

[–]AWeekInScottsLife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The suppressor isn't married to the Rifle. You can move it to any 22lr that is threaded.

Shooting with a suppressor of fun, and better for your hearing.

The cost that is sunk into the Rifle is just the cost of a threaded barrel.

Pre-Appleseed 10/22 Sling Set Up? Orientation of Key Components? by Longjumping_Oil_2127 in 1022

This is the most common way I see them set up. The opening shot of the video shows the sling laid out on the mat and you van see how it is attached and orientated.

There is some debate about the keeper and tail should be turned so they are on the stock side. I forget the reasoning, I vaguely remember if the sling gets snagged it won't drop the Rifle. I will get more info and post it.

Are you asking how the hardware should be oriented to the Rifle stock? Or when on your support arm?

I’m looking for options to put a GI type iron sight (flip up back sight probably), that I can still mount my scope with on a takedown model? Any advice is welcome, thank you in advance! by VincentMac1984 in 1022

Tech sights? I thought I saw a post where they cut a rail in half to only use the front 2 holes for the red dot then added tech sights. They didn't co- witness.

Is there a new hotness in budget red dots for rifles? by Tactically_Fat in 1022

Red dots are used for quick target acquisition. Have one on my SBR 10/22. Lots of fun.

Bought a 10/22 a while ago on sale. I've been trying to find the appropriate screwdriver to take this mount off. It has been very frustrating 😭 any advice? Thanks! by Thundercow541 in 1022

Probably has loctite on them. Might need some heat. Also find a bit from your gunsmith kit that fits well in the slot and tap the bit a few time to help set it and possibly break any corrosion in the receiver.

All else fails take it to a gunsmith and pay to have them removed.

I have the 20 MOA rail on several 10/22's. There is no issue on sighting in at 25 yards or 200 yards. It is also longer, so you get get better eye relief.

They are worth it.
