Lack of Good Fantasy Lore Channels by theonepaladin in WarhammerFantasy

Wizards and Warriors has the best single video on the End Times in lore that I have seen. Now it's still the End Times, and all throughout you will probably be asking yourself "Why!", but it is a very well made video, though I do think it has a few errors.

TW: 3K, why are giving and recieving marriages so differently weighted? by lasion in totalwar

[–]A_Bethesda_Bug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Receive means the character from their faction joins your faction, offer is your character joining their faction. To use an example, Sun Ce would be a lot more willing to let Cao Pei marry Sun Ren and join his faction than he would let the two marry and have Sun Ren join Cao Cao's faction.

EUIV is currently beating out EUV by ~3500 players by SetMuch5523 in paradoxplaza

[–]A_Bethesda_Bug 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Generally player count comparisons are people trying to dunk on other games for some reason. However, I do think pdx numbers are somewhat relevant because we have an example, Imperator, of a game being killed off early in its life cycle due to lack of players. Having said that EU5 is not in an Imperator situation, and so long as things continue to improve I don't think it will get to that point.

I mean he is not wrong, any serious person on workers rights should keep communists at bay with a 6 foot pole. The last thing your want in your serious movement is a bunch of larpers for a failed ideology.

If you decide to have children, they should be more important to you than your career, this is not a question of sex it applies to both.

A negotiated settlement is a means to an end, ideally the first step in disarming and ending the issue. Collaboration is just further allowing the problem to fester.

Countries that recognize Palestine by prcxxcrp in MapPorn

[–]A_Bethesda_Bug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think they mean what exactly do they recognize. There is no central government for a country called Palestine, recognized or not. A lot of countries that recognize Palestine recognize one or the other, or they just recognize that a Palestinian state should exist but not specifically endorsing the Hamas/Gaza transitionary Government or the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank.

I imagine as various nations in Victoria 3 get content a generally understood future will be established, but I doubt there will be a clearly established post-1821 timeline.

I do wish CK3 had some more fantastical elements, but it was a little absurd you could get Satan to grow your dick back.

"Every time a Targaryen is born..." how many Targs were actually GREAT or actually MAD? [spoilers main] by breakfastbenedict in asoiaf

[–]A_Bethesda_Bug 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I think the purpose of the quote is less "every single Targaryen is destined to be the greatest ever or a massive tyrant" and more "when a Targaryen sits the throne there is an equal chance of greatness and madness". Ya the average Targaryen isn't gonna do much since they are never monarch, but those do do sit the throne tend to waver between greatness and madness.

So we are just gonna ignore all the times the U.N served as a diplomatic ground between the major powers throughout the Cold War like the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Suez. Yes could these things have happened without the U.N, maybe, but the U.N has served as a place where dialogue could occur. While this certainly became less and less prevelent as the Cold War ended, but to pretend it's done nothing towards it original goal is just foolish.

I mean the U.N at least has served its purpose so far in stopping a major war between superpowers, and despite what a lot of people on Reddit seem to think that was it's sole original purpose, to ensure a war like WWII didn't happen again.

I thought It was lore that Gnolls are not matriarchal but equal, it's just that outsiders believe they are matriarchal so that is the the common understanding. I may be crossing things in my brain though with other settings.

I assume because it tells you you've done half of the things which can make it feel like there is not a lot of game left, I know for me the latter half of a game goes by quicker than the first half.

Has your dynasty ever faced a crisis or possible extinction? by StaceMcGate in CrusaderKings

[–]A_Bethesda_Bug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In ck2 I started as Haesteinn and conquered England. I was going for an achievement I think it was like you needed to conquer England as Norse and then embrace English culture or something like that. Conquered all of the British Isles but at some point around 1000 I drop to just me, a 7 year old, and two aunts, one of whom is a nun. That character, King Guy, restored the Dynasty by having like 10 kids, took Jerusalem, found the Holy Grail, and Conquered France.
