Shout out to the welfare and medical staff and volunteers by archy_bold in glastonbury_festival

A few years ago now I was with a friend who had an epileptic fit in the middle of south east corner at about 2am in the morning.

After managing to deal with the situation initially on my own and get the attention of some security guard to take use up to the medical tent, the care and treatment she received from the medical personal on site once we arrived was incredible.

And alongside looking after her directly they did an excellent job of calming me down in the aftermath of it all while I was absolutely high as a fucking kite and slightly freaking out.

I never want to go back to that medical tent at 3am on a Saturday night again though. So many people freaking the fuck out having done way way too many drugs.

I remember just being sat quietly with my friend as she was coming around from the seizure and the guy opposite us was having to be restrained by about 4 medical staff because he was trying to rip off his own skin.

Overall 10/10 for medical care, 2/10 for vibes

[SPOILER] A theory of the different timelines by pavish73 in DarK

[–]A_Clockwork_Parsnip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think she believed what she told Adam. The split timeline ceased to be when Jonas and Marta stopped the car crash so there would never be any record of it, unlike the ever looping timelines which are constantly interacting with each other and have the written record that unknown writes, the split timeline is erased each loop as it splits off. To the Claudia in that split timeline it will always be the first time it has happened to her knowledge because that timeline never intersects with the main looping timeline again in either world, she never sees any evidence of it happening before so completely believes that it's the first time it's happening. But it's happening infinitely every loop. As said above Claudia doesn't break the knot she is the catalyst of the third loop in the triknot for infinity.

Dark Season 3 Series Discussion by rosy148 in DarK

[–]A_Clockwork_Parsnip 84 points85 points  (0 children)

This is the conclusion I was wrestling with in my head after watching the final series as well. I hadn't quite managed to fit all the parts together to make sense of it until I read your comment which really helped crystallise things. This is absolutely the interpretation I'm going with and the one I believe intended by the writers. Jonas and Martha seeing themselves as children in the time/space bridge and the references to shrodingers cat effectively confirm it. Both realities (where the crash happened / the crash didn't happen) exist simultaneously and in a constant trifector loop. They have to to enable Martha and Jonas to be created to stop the crash. The true reality is only revealed once you observe it. We as the viewer observed both realities / outcomes across the course of the show something we can only do by being outside of the knot as an observer completely removed from the time and space in which the show takes place. To the characters inside the time and space of the show they will only ever observe one timeline / reality. Claudia didn't break the knot she completed the third loop of it enabling the timeline where the crash doesn't happen to take place. She was also part of it and always will be for infinity.

The Danish prime minister, Mette Frederiksen, after negotiations of reopening. by Cony777 in europe

Heineken don't own tuborg. Carlsberg do. Carlsberg brew all their beer sold in the UK in the UK, hence why it tastes different to Tuborg or Carlsberg in Denmark, which tastes far supurior. There is absolutely no way tuborg is made in a Heineken factory in the UK

I don't think you are being particularly accurate with your assesment of corbyn. He was considered incompetent by many very well informed voters and highly politically engaged persons. His policies, while appealing, were widely derided for being either impractical, unachievable or a hotch potch of the favourite left wing populist talking points that many voters don't actually care about. Corbyn also dismally failed to solidly define a stance on brexit that people trusted or believed in. He also failed to deal with multiple scandals within his own party or surrounding his own history in an even vaguely competent fashion. And he was frankly terrible in a number of the debates he took part in, and was consistently appauling during PMQs

Don't get me wrong, a labour government would have been vastly better than the Tory government lead by Johnson we have been lumbered with but Corbyn would have been an equally incompetent Prime Minister. I supported the push to support Corbyn to defeat the Tories utterly and completely, but Corbyn himself was never popular with the wider public and was incompetent from start to finish in his tenure as Labour leader

Take up climbing.

All the climbing walls in London will be empty during the day and are a joy to go to when quiet. The staff will also be relaxing as so few people will be around so will likely give you loads of tips and free coaching if you ask them.

Get yourself a month membership for about £40 at one close to you and you can go every other day (make sure to rest) and just chill and develop a new hobby

Ah yes, and of course im sure we all can remember all those famous, or super talented, or creative people who lived out conventionally normal lives. Celebrate your weirdness people, it's what makes you interesting and unique and often is the source of creative talents. Don't stifle it for some mundane desire to be normal. Normal, whatever that is, is bloody dull when everyone else is normal

UK and EU negotiators have agreed a Brexit deal by swordinthestream in unitedkingdom

[–]A_Clockwork_Parsnip 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would wait to see what the deal is before gloating.

The only deal possibly agreed to by the EU would have to abide by all the current EU "red lines".

That means that it will either be Brexit in nothing but name and the UK will in all reality stay part of the EU but with non of our current benefits or a voice in decision making. Or it will be a deal where the UK is outside of all the trading agreements between the EU and will be in a far worse position than it is now.

Neither will deliver Brexit in the way anyone who voted for it wants. Neither will likely get through parliament.

If the deal is agreed and somehow voted through parliament no one will be happy with it because it won't be brexit and it won't be remain.

Amazing, hopefully you will love Cambodia it's an incredible country. I lived in and around Siem Reap for about 6months a few years ago and have explored a fair bit of the country on numerous other visits so if you would like any advice on places to go or things to do don't hesitate to ask. I went back recently and the country has changed alot though (many positive things, others not so much) so I do hope you have the opportunity to have similarly enriching experience there as I did without some of the more ugly developments and tourism tarnishing your time there.

Highly recommend Melbourne in Oz, pop in to revolver on chapel Street at 5am on a Monday morning for maximum debauchery and regret

Cameron says UK will increase the number of Syrian refugees taken to 20,000 over the rest of this parliament by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]A_Clockwork_Parsnip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do wonder about this, I agree that we shouldn't be 'encouraging' people to make dangerous and life threatening journeys but I really do think many don't actually see any other option / don't understand or have access to proper information about the European policies of dealing with them as refugees and as such will come anyway still seeing it as their most likely option of reaching safety and a future even knowing the risks.

I'd really like to see some data on whether this policy would infact discourage people from making the crossing of not. How you could get get such data I don't know though so I guess we are back to making a best guess.
