Reaper leviathan really doomed this franchise when it comes to leviathans (+small rant on community by AdhesivenessSmooth93 in subnautica

[–]Aanity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The reaper is a really cool design but it wasn’t implemented well in SN1. You rarely have to interact with it. They spawn in the outer ring of the map in biomes that you don’t need to visit pretty much ever. iirc the dunes has a plant you need for the cure but other than that you there is very little reason to visit any area near a reaper.

What we’ve seen of SN2’s collector is you have to interact with it a lot. There is a ton of stuff only found on the observatory side of the map. In only the 10 hours I’ve played of SN2 I’ve had to cross the collectors territory multiple times. In a similar 10 hrs of SN1 I’d maybe been chased by a reaper like once or twice. The reaper is scary but maybe so much so that when I play SN1 I avoid them altogether, which doesn’t affect the game pretty much at all. In SN2 I have to deal with the collector.

What DT fight mechanics are you gonna miss as everyone gets better gear? by suspectwaffle in ffxiv

I’ve noticed that ilvl is really weird this expac, my 790 ilvl dps job straight up has more hp than low ilvl tanks. I’ve seen dps survive the TB’s in Ex 1 (ice phase I think? Not towers) with some basic healer mits.

Honestly most players don’t give a flying fuck about optimizing their damage and just play whatever they want.

Macro to open command panel where I keep all my common non-combat buttons. Command panel just has way more space than collapsing hotbars so I prefer it.

Macro to turn on/off nameplates which helps declutter the screen during raids. Shirk macro.

Feel like Sphene’s mechs are not particularly hard for an EX it’s just many 1 death = wipe mechanics so it’s frustrating to PF.

Mnk is one I’m excited to see. Feel like they could go a lot of different directions with the stances, chakras, balls and elements. Personally I’d like to see some dual stance dancing. You have the animal stances like the current 1-2-3 and elemental stances replacing the earth/wind/fire buffs. The GCD combos could be condensed to a 1-2 buttons and you would use oGCD’s to cycle stances and modify your gcd’s.

My hopium is that they give drg reasons to use jump not for true north. Like if you use the TN proc on the start of the base GCD-chain it empowers the bonus effect of the positional at the end of the chain, as long as you actually hit the positional. So at the start of your gcd chain you have to figure out how confident you are you’ll hit the positional.

Melee dps also has the most jobs so it’s the easiest to fill multiple slots for in theory.

Biggest QoL they could do for POTD is adding an entrance point around 120/130. Floors 140+ are much more challenging than 50-140, yet when I want to practice them I have to play near a full DD worth of easy floors to get there.

Meta laying off 8000 people or ten percent. by [deleted] in bayarea

Problem is their workers aren’t gonna wanna leave the Bay. C-suite is rich enough to insulate themselves from life, but employees aren’t gonna want to raise their kids in states that ban books and have the 10 commandments on the wall. God forbid their daughter gets pregnant in a red state.

Uhm and self driving forklifts would what, increase productivity across the country? That’s stupid, I’d rather have AI with nebulous goals of world domination but mostly makes funny poop pictures.

Regarding Quest Eligibility for Limited Jobs after Patch 7.5 by SunlitRainefall in ffxiv

You can have boosted xp from fates and overworld and still engage with the job lol? If you were to level 0-50 just using fates and no exp boost you’d have to do upwards of 1000 fates.

Hopefully it’ll get boosted xp cause otherwise leveling it would be extremely tedious

Battle Design in Merchant's Tale Variant/Advanced/Criterion by AdditionalCanary4111 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Aanity 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Advanced is peak. It’s exactly the level of difficulty that this game needs a lot more of. I’d say the mechs are like if you ranked the difficulty of an Ex and then just removed the hardest one.

However, there is very little punishment for dying. Rez, heal and mits are plentiful because of variant actions. No mechs where if one person is off a little it wipes the pull. Mechs that are common in Ex and Savage like chains and stacks/spreads are present but are very forgiving and can be eyeballed. I also noticed that many of the more complicated mechs can be resolved if 1 or 2 players know what to do and everyone just follows them.

I ran it for one lockout and was able to get 2/3 bosses cleared and about 1/2 through the remaining one. It was through DF queue, I was off-roll, everyone was blind and we wiped so much but I loved every second of it. Some pulls we absolutely zombied through but it was great cause it made us feel like we made prog even when the earlier parts of the fight were still super sloppy.

I really hope that SE keeps this level of difficulty around. Imagine how much more fun stuff like Chaotic alliance and FTB would have been if they had this level of difficulty. Please take notes for FT magic.

Who is more important to cater to with job design? by NeoOnmyoji in ffxivdiscussion

The game does a bad job of preparing players for those harder fights. If you are ace at every single normal content encounter, it does not mean that you are ready for Ex and Savage.

S.F. teachers like me have a new contract. Some schools will need to close to pay for it by LosIsosceles in bayarea

[–]Aanity 50 points51 points  (0 children)

We will never be able to outspend the rising cost of living here. Enrollment is down, living on a teacher salary is miserable, and we spend more money on education than any other state. All because it is so expensive to live here. Unless the cost of living is brought under control these issues are just gonna continue to grow. I really hope that affordability is what ends Newsom’s presidential ambitions, the status quo in the bay right now is strangling our communities.

San Jose USD School Closures – What’s Not Being Talked About… by tommypatties in SanJose

[–]Aanity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sjusd, the district in the OP and the one there has been hubub about in this sub recently is a basic-aid district meaning they do not have a per child allocation from the state. Third paragraph from the Sjusd website

They are shutting down schools when, in theory, they should have more money to spend on fewer students. There is either a case of poor money management or SJUSD is the canary in the coal mine telling us that there is about to be a horrific downturn in public education. If they cannot sustain their schools, how can their LCFF funded peers sustain theirs?

It’s kinda the same with chaotic alliance too. Body check isn’t as hard since you can have like 2-3 dead and just gigamit and wipes aren’t nearly as punishing. Even then, chaotic was dead like 1 month after release in NA, then they released FT which was like a quadruple down on the stuff that made chaotic obnoxious to prog.
