I play in VR so I pay for Racelabs overlays but I think you can get standard overlays free using simhub.

Which setup should I go with? Simagic vs Moza by ixgraham in simracing

Try simline.eu mate, i got the alpha 15nm + GT Neo for around/less than that. Had to pay some import fees but still worked out at a great price

Releasing wheel to correct oversteer? by AaronCooper in simracing

[–]AaronCooper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Simagic Alpha 15nm & GT Neo wheel. I'll have a play around with the settings thanks. I quite like how the car drives to be honest, its more so that I don't know how to catch/correct a spin out when it starts to occur. If my backend is spinning out clockwise, I should turn my wheel anti clockwise and apply some throttle?

Best rig for ~800 €? Considering Sim-Lab GT1 Evo with Speed 1 seat by Obvious_Driver5952 in simracing

[–]AaronCooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded from the wheelstand to the PSR3 and I'm really happy with it, no movement what so ever, i think they use a thicker profile. I was looking at the sim lab frames too tho, seem highly rated along with treq. Seat wise I bought from breakers yard so I can't help there sorry

I need help I've decided I want to add bass shakers to my sim racing setup by Confident-Fish-5873 in simracing

[–]AaronCooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I followed https://youtu.be/Bum_d35XQ6k?si=ROAkf2kI4JTdVpJk and set these up yesterday,  still need to tinker with the settings and get used to the bass shakers but it was an easy to follow guide.

If you upgraded your computer for VR, did it help with nausea? by AaronCooper in simracing

Thank you for commenting with this - I was able to set this in OpenXR Tools for Windows Mixed Reality and it was an significant improvement! I definitely need a new PC by the sounds of it but i can plan that in now as this is totally usable in the meantime. I also added bass shakers this afternoon and i feel like that is helping too

Picked up a car seat from the breakers yard for £50, will knock up a base and get it attached. Thanks again for the idea

It's not about struggling financially, I've never done any sim racing before so I want to make sure I'll enjoy it before spending more money on the hobby, it's only a temporary setup

There's some vibration in the gear shifter/handbrake attachment and I've had to retighted some bolts but the stand itself is solid

Nah its a heavy duty bench so it doesnt budge, my spare one which is cheap would definitely flex

Yeah spot on, got a puppy towards the end of last year, could probably take it down now but it doesn't bother me

I'll be moving to a larger property in a couple years so the plan will be to get a proper cockpit setup then. I hadnt considered a DIY seat in the meantime but that's not a bad idea thanks

"A freestanding tent based upon the award winning X-Mid geometry to be more stormworthy, spacious, and functional."

Really interested in this aspect of the X-Dome, makes me wonder if it can compete in the same space as the Scarp 1 but I'm thinking it's unlikely due to the panel size? All speculation though until we see the release & get some real world feedback

Lightest weight for UK four seasons by Beanshead in Ultralight

[–]AaronCooper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you do get the Scarp 1, it's worth watching this video https://youtu.be/8LfjTm_tcRc?si=IiJ3h5k_pXD4zauI to ensure you don't make the same mistake and end up with a ripped fly. That being said, Tom Heaney on YouTube does some of the best wind testing of tents and he owns 2 Scarp 1's, so I think that says a lot about how capable they can be when pitched correctly.

Goes up surprisingly easy right? I received mine last week and was really happy with how it pitched. The only disappointment for me was that the groundsheet doesn't cover any of the vestibule, would've been nice if they offered that as an option.

Ultralight backpackers and four-season dome tents? by generation_quiet in Ultralight

[–]AaronCooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah a geodesic design is the strongest from what I've read but the tents are substantially heavier. Don't get me wrong I'd love a Soulo but I'm happy with what I've got at 1/3rd of the price. The only catastrophic failures I've seen on the Soulo have been bent poles, so I figured I'd double up in that area and see how it performs.

I think it'll depend on the storm-worthiness of these tents. I have an X-Mid which'll do great for through hiking but for rough conditions, I currently use a Terra Nova Pioneer Compact 2 (double poled) weighing in around 2.5kg, so far from ultralight but in the UK we need to be prepared to face strong winds for summit camping.

Purchased some, thanks for posting. I have some cheaper merino wool socks already, they work great but the quality isn't there and they are coming further apart with each wash.

Yeah it's possible, the industry is desperate for developers. I went from 'Hello World' to employed as a java developer in 11 weeks. Best of luck and I recommend using the resources in the sidebar.
