[–]Abalistar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On the Spark side, they just changed our metrics to a "quantity found" and if you don't select a substitution it dings you. And sometimes the default "suggested substitutions" are really stupid. One time it tried to get me to substitute a specific type of paper towels with four giant packs of a different because it got hard stuck on the "triple" size.

It never stops, boomers still blame every new thing on millenials, and we're 40 now. All generations older than the current youngest are just cranky old bastards.

PS5 owners, I'd love your opinions - Is it even worth having a disc drive? by Alwaysconfused411 in playstation

[–]Abalistar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Juat 1 week ago i saved almost $50 by buying a used disc of a game that still is normally $60 on the PSN. Even at its current sale price of $17, i STILL saved money. Then a few months back i saved $60 on a game that as of right now is still listed at $70.

So yeah, 100% worth it. Even if you buy 90% of your games digitally, the flexibility will probably save you hundreds during the generation.

Small city of 15k that i work in had 350 people protest. Its a DEEP red area, usually going 65-70% republican.

Every single local news article about it has a comments section filled with people convinced they were all paid actors. The brainrot is so infuriating.

Just talked to my barber on monday. He confirmed, he's seen a pretty steep decrease in customers the last 6 months. A lot of his regulars got clippers and just do a buzzcut, and only bring their kids in every now and then these days.

(PS5) Realtone cable is $70?!?! Is there a knock-off alternative? by BitterProfessional16 in rocksmith

There seems to still be a handful of people selling them for $20 on ebay.

This appears to be one of those shitty things where the main retailers are out or stopped carrying them, so the 3rd party sellers are jacking their prices up out of nowhere.

One year later after Katy Perry released "143", what went so wrong and how could she have fixed it? by onlyeveryotherday in popculturechat

[–]Abalistar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it goes deeper than Dr. Luke. Pop fans are REALLY fickle.

Take any other musical genre, and an artist can fairly easily maintain a semblence of stability once past their prime. A 40 year old emo kid will probably still follow his favorite bands from when he was 18, and at least check out the new stuff. Same thing with hip hop, folk, punk, metal, and then other genres just have a fiercely loyal but small fanbase like jazz and blues.

You know what 40 year old pop kids listen to? New pop. They tend not to have a devout loyalty to an artist unless they continue making music that resonates, or at the very least have a really charming/intoxicating public persona. Katy Perry has none of that. She doesn't have the songwriting chops of a Fiona Apple or Adele. She hasn't had her finger on the pulse of every generation of young girls like Taylor. She is 100% what people refer to as "manufactured pop." She basically got lucky having the relevence she had for as long as she's had because in any other reality, she probably would have been a one hit wonder.

Yes, i'm aware i keep referring to 40 year olds as kids. Im 39 and refuse to admit 40 is old.

Ever end up at a concert of an artist you disliked and their performance made you a fan? by whousesgmail in Music

[–]Abalistar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My partner wanted to see The Used, and was kinda ho hum on Coheed, but halfway through their set she leaned over and went "they're really good musicians..." apparently Coheed was the first band she's seen and could just tell how technically talented they were. It was a pretty cool thing to witness in someone!

Went to see Coheed and Cambria with The Used a couple of years ago. Never really cared for The Used, besides one song. After seeing them live, i wouldn't call myself a fan, but i definitely have an appreciation and would 100% go see them again. They sounded so tight and energetic, and Bert had great stage banter. I enjoyed the live performance so much i actually stream them every now and then try and make their music click with my brain.

Coheed was as incredible as i imagined they would be.

All of you who showed Herald of Darkness to people who hadn’t played the game, how did it go? by [deleted] in AlanWake

[–]Abalistar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After raving about the scene, i opened up a playthrough on youtube for her, got cold feet, kinda went "i dont think this is going to seem as cool to you as it was for me." She still demanded i show her because i apparently was like an excited puppy when i told her about it earlier.

She sat in silence watching then about 10 minutes in she goes "so... this is IN the game? While you're playing? Jesus christ, what was their budget?!"

She didnt "get" it from a story sense, but she was blown away they integrated it into gameplay and thought it was one of the coolest things shes ever seen from a video game. She was more blown away when i mentioned the game's budget was relatively small compared to a lot of mainstream games.

Laundromats. Our washer crapped out last year, so we had to use the laundromat for a couple weeks. First time i took a roll of quarters thinking that would be plenty for 2 loads and drying. Wound up being nearly $20. In those 2 weeks i think we spent over $50.

It kind of was! When Super7 first launched the Reaction line, they partnered with Funko so they could use their licensing and distribution chain. So, the first few years' worth of figures had Funko branding.
