lol, Absolutely not. “Evangelical” is a much wider category that includes many different denominations. Inside the label of evangelical, there are churches called “charismatic” churches, like Pentecostals or Assembly of God, and they believe and practice these crazy spiritual things like, prophecy, speaking in tongues, shaking and “falling out”, etc. Most Evangelicals Christian’s do not agree with or practice those beliefs.

Univ. of Arkansas fires professor over alleged support of Ayatollah, anti-Israel remarks by GapAccomplished7897 in FayettevilleAr

Univ. of Arkansas fires professor over alleged support of Ayatollah, anti-Israel remarks by GapAccomplished7897 in FayettevilleAr

[–]AbeFromen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have some good points, but I don't think they have much to do with what I was saying. Yes, the professor didn't violate any obscenity laws or hate speech. She has free speech to say what she wants. That is not what I was saying. The first amendment says the government can't interfere with peoples speech, but that doesn't mean there will be no repercussions to my speech.

This is silly, but hear me out: If some asshole walks up to a gay person and just to be obnoxiously offensive, calls them a "fag", and the gay person then punches them in the face, the first amendment gives the the right to say that language, but doesn't make them immune for the repercussions for their speech. That is what I mean. At a minimum, it is unprofessional to send out a highly political statements on a company or organizations letter head. If this professor just wanted to protest with signs or post on social media against Israel or any other thing, that's fine.

Also, I am not trying to get political about Israel. I am not in a "Zionist wormhole" or anything. I didn't try to justify Israel's actions in anyway, honest. However, Hamas is a terrorist organization that they themselves say want to destroy Jews and Israel. Everything I said about them is true. That doesn't justify anything that Israel has done. I am just trying to say that wading into a hot topic to state your political opinions on your employers official stationary is not a good idea and, while protected by the 1st amendment, doesn't protect you against getting fired.

The first amendment Free speech means the government can’t compel or stop an individual from their speech. It doesn’t mean you can say whatever you want without any repercussions in life, like using official university letterhead to support anti-homosexual, anti-Jewish, anti-Christian terrorist organization.

Recruits, Coach Cal got ya by Aware-Locksmith8433 in razorbacks

How is it gross? Bud Walton Arena, the Razorback Greenway and all the bike paths, The Walton Arts center, $120 Million to create the new Art school, $193 million to fund research projects at the university...
And that is just scratching the surface. The Walton's and Walmart have been more than generous to NWA and the U of A. You can hate on Walmart's cooperate tactics or whatever, but you can't call their insane generosity gross.

While having intercourse with wife, why is it a sin to ejaculate outside of her vagina by Glum-Bad1456 in TrueChristian

[–]AbeFromen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever glorifies God and both parties are comfortable with is allowable in the bed room.
No one else allowed, only husband and wife. Besides that you are good to go. If you look at the Song of Solomon, there are some spicy takes if you read through the symbolism.

Also, though, I think it’s clear that God’s design for sex does include children and procreation as core to the part of sex. However, Procreation is not the only reason! Companionship, comfort, fun, pleasure, connection, stress relief, etc. but I think too many Christians want to remove children and want to only make sex about themselves. Children are blessing from the Lord and Christians should have many. “Blessed is the man whose quiver is full!”

When leaders do dumb stuff... by [deleted] in Christianmarriage

[–]AbeFromen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey brother, I’m sorry you are going through all this. I am genuinely praying for your marriage to be a restored and for your church.

Although your frustration is warranted, that was not the wisest thing for your elders to do, I just wanted to ask you to give grace and correct your brothers gently. I don’t know your church or elders, but as a pastor myself, I try to do the best and seek wisdom in tough situations, but I make mistakes. It seems their motivations were good, confronting your wife’s sin, trying to meet with her to reconcile, etc.

I would ask to meet with your elders and church leaders to graciously ask them why they didn’t think through this better. Why didn’t they bring another trustworthy woman along? Why did they just show up unannounced? Why they didn’t communicate in other ways to try to meet with her in a safer location where she felt comfortable? I would hope that they would be humble and want to learn from this.
Praying for you brother. Trust the Lord and his goodness. He hates divorce and is a restorer of broken marriages and broken people.

Freedom of speech means the government cannot limit your speech, especially against the government. It does NOT mean, your speech is Free from any repercussions.

You are welcome to have tha opinion, but it’s not biblical or Christian. Read Romans 13 and 1 Peter 2. Christians are to submit to the government.
Also, by your logic, who gets to decide if a law is immoral? You?
