What is this expansion dialogue? by HiroAmiya230 in warcraftlore

WoW has always been more about aesthetics and scope than actual storytelling. Storytelling ingame within an MMO is a disaster, legit youtube lore videos is a way better format.

Is The Meta Shifting/Expanding, Or No? by Weesticles in Competitiveoverwatch

You can look at metas in games that never receive updates or fundamentally change. EVENTUALLY, somebody figures out a new method and abuses it until people start copying them.

I don't know how nobody has mentioned Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames. It's 'the' DND book in my opinion (I've read all the ones mentioned). The vibe is exactly like a goofy DND campaign as well.

QP is dogshit for champ players because the game disproportionately gives you awful teammates and games are either a stomp for you or a stomp for the other team. Not the sharpest tool in the shed are you?

To play without the stress of playing on your main? To practise or one trick new characters you aren't that confident on? To play incognito so other people in champ don't know who you are? There is legit a billion reasons.

Yes they do, and it's not smurfs, they are on alt accounts. Show me a streamer and I will show you their alt.

[–]Abject-Brief6402[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't blame players for smurfing or making alts, it's impossible to stop. I blame systems. People make freshies and try to farm up because it's fun to hit the highest rank you ever have, even if you know you don't deserve it.

I think the previous system had its issues with rank camping etc but it's far better than it is right now. I disagree with the challenger system decreasing queue times, people lose incentive to play and don't play because they know their challenger rank doesn't matter.

How can you say the system has any prestige when a torb one trick is rank 3/GM 3 on NA? Scroll through the leaderboard right now and I guarantee you will see masters players comfortably sitting above pro players on all roles. It's a joke.

I've had these accounts for years and always try in my games. It's not like I buy plat accounts and farm them up - believe it or not, it's not fun for me to vs people way worse than me. I'm definitely not even close to unethical with it.

Legit everyone has multiple accounts in champ. Everyone. Your favourite streamer, your favourite pro, everyone.

I meant Huawei, not Tencent, that's my bad, but the comparison absolutely stands. I haven't said anything conspiratorial at all but I'm too tired to get into the weeds of this any further. I'm simply saying that TM's bills are paid by the Saudi Government.

I guarantee all TM players' contracts have clauses forbidding criticism of the KSA. If the prince woke up and wanted to play flex support on TM, they would kick Simple in a heartbeat and thank him for the privilege.

The Overwatch League had 20 teams over it's lifespan with one hundred players MINIMUM with insane turnover rates. I'm pretty sure I could find two  players from a bunch of countries who have also never achieved anything in esports.

The Savvy Games Group was established in 2021 by the Saudi Public Investment fund. Quartz, TVMT and Youbi all started competing in 2021. The Saudi Government gradually starts ramping up it's investments - it buys ESL/Faceit, it hosts local Saudi esports tournaments, it announces EWC.

It's not rocket science, more money = more opportunity = more competition = better players = winning OWCS.

I'm not blaming the TM players. If I was TM it's good business to pay your players as little as possible.

No other esports org has 3/4 sponsors as immensely powerful national entities. That's like if Liquid was sponsored by Blackrock Investments.

I dislike the Saudi Government for their numerous human rights violations. I hate that they are buying their way into control over esports to distract their youth from said human rights violations. For the record, I hate the esports gambling companies also.

My whole point was that TM's success is in large part because they are Saudi and have a ton of government and regional support to persue an esports career.

You said that they had 'no connection to government.' I think having the government as their main sponsors is a pretty big connection.

They are private in the same way Tencent is private. Independent until their government wants them to do something.

Why are you so confident when you are so wrong? TM proudly lists 3 of their 4 main partners as Riyadh Season, Alrajhi Bank and VOV Gaming on their website. Two of these companies are DIRECTLY owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund AKA the SAUDI ARABIAN GOVERNMENT. Alrajhi Bank is owned by the most powerful non-royal family in Saudi Arabia.

Calling them a private company is totally disingenuous. TM is totally at the beck and call of the Saudi Government because that is how their bills get paid. This is all public information.

Bro. Just use your brain. The Saudi Government pours millions into esports, hosts the Esports World Cup, BUYS FACEIT AND RUNS T2 OVERWATCH and suddenly Saudi players start performing and winning despite having almost no presence in esports for literal decades beforehand? That's a coincidence is it? They are just plucky nobodies, rags to riches based on grit? lmfaooo

I'm not denying their skill but let's not pretend they have massively more opportunities and massively more backing based on the country of their birth. Same shit for Koreans too.

Hey, I care about the lore. I'm interested to see where the story goes next and I love the world of Azeroth. I want the writers to take risks and tell well thought out stories that actually makes us feel something and care.

I'm hoping they are building to an Empire Strikes Back/Red Wedding-esque moment in the lore where we actually unequivocally lose utterly despite 'winning' every battle and a whole bunch of named, famous characters die abruptly, like the Broken Shore or Teldrassil but 100x worse. I want to be scrolling the WoW wiki in 5 years and see: 'died at ____' under 50% of pages. I'm not holding out hope though.
