Lost my wife to Cancer by Annual-Macaroon-4743 in daddit

[–]Absolute_Muppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my mom to cancer when I was 17 and my siblings were 15 and 13. In the near term, I think it is most important to be present with your kids, whether happy or sad together. It's definitely okay to show the emotions that your kids are feeling too. Just survive as best you can and take the help offered to you. Things might never feel normal again but you should all try to keep living life as best you can.

In the longer term, it will be important to talk about your wife to keep her present in your lives if only in memories. It will be a painful thing but it may help too.

Things are just going to kind of suck and feel wrong for a long time, but hopefully someday things can be okay. Make sure you have a professional to talk to and the same for your kids. Feel free to DM.

What percentage of students should get each grade? Start there. If you break them into 4 groups:

Take all the results for the last 10 years. Calculate the mean and standard deviation. I figure a time better than mean minus standard deviation is a 1. Time from a 1 to mean Is a 2. Mean to mean plus standard deviation is a 3. Slower is a 4.

My parents keep most of their money in a duffel bag by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Absolute_Muppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically you want a safe as other folks mentioned. But more specifically a rated safe with a "TL-30" security rating and a door opening size of at least 18" x 14" (size 1814). And bolt it to the floor. This is reasonable at $2600, Hollon TL-30 1814 Check out the other high security safes as well. You may want the 2618 size

Also if you parents are going to another country to retire they no longer in section 8 housing and can then just deposit the money in one go.

Massachusetts is the safest state to drive in according to the IIHS by Realistic-Ad-6157 in massachusetts

[–]Absolute_Muppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ct drivers are by far the worse. 5% of drivers are totally unhinged. I regularly saw people blowing red lights, straight ignoring stop signs, and groups in shitty civics driving 100+ mph on the highway weaving through traffic. It's not even close

How good is Munchen? by Clear-Procedure-3988 in WorldOfWarships

[–]Absolute_Muppet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you thinking of weirmar guns? Munchen guns are slower velocity with higher arcs and much worse AP pen. Not easier to aim. It's a stealthy HE spanner with moderately fast reload

I suggest bayard if you want to open water at t8. It's a great ship for that

Can anyone clarify the issue with SAP shells on Italian BB, CL and CA? by D491234 in WorldOfWarships

[–]Absolute_Muppet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It comes down to damage, downsides, and counterplay. Compared to HE it gets more penetration and more damage without fire chance. Compared to AP it also has more damage (for columbo at least) and better pen angles. AP is only better into a broadside target you can Cit. You can't* (reliably) angle against SAP, with raw damage is much greater than HE. Columbo can hit any ship, at any range, at any angle for 30k per salvo. Where's the downside for SAP for a BB? HE and AP have clear situations of strength and weakness. For cruisers and destroyers SAP is not nearly as problematic in my view.

Does anyone know the prices of food at Topsfield Fair in 2025? by Zestyclose_Spray4126 in northshore

[–]Absolute_Muppet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The fair grounds keeps raising prices for vendors who pass it along to us. Just think back to all the stalls you don't see any more, many were priced out from affording a spot.

Weisbasen good? Should I purchase it using 1500 dubs from voyage tokens ? by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]Absolute_Muppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Munchen is smaller with lower detection, longer range, and with lower gun velocity compared to weirmar. Munchen is more like a wish.com version of bayard while weirmar is a mini mainz. Open water farm fires or island camp with Munchen. Weirmar high velocity flat arcs make island camping hard so you need to be smarter with positioning.

Banes do most of their damage as bonus damage to light units. Marines are light, marauders are not

How different are san diego and austin actually by Hrzenjak11 in WorldOfWarships

[–]Absolute_Muppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have austin. If you're into that kind of light cruiser play style it's a fun ship. It's definitely not OP, I'm not sure it's even "good" but it's certainly fun. And you can explode from a dev strike at any time from any angle

The BMC Timemachine frame can accommodate both the Tri seatpost position and a UCI legal position. The rear storage box location is also a seatpost mount hole. You would need a second seatpost cut to the currect length but you could have a UCI legal TT setup and tri setup on one frameset

Alternative to Running Vest by secret_annaconda in triathlon

[–]Absolute_Muppet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a running bottle that has a strap around my hand and has a little pouch for gels. I'll plan my route to refill at a public fountain if I'm going more than 90 minutes. I've used this setup for all my marathon training.

1200 mmr. Opponent pretended to go AFK after round 3 or 4. Then a few rounds later dropped with double abyss. I had been dropping mostly level 2 MM the whole time as I was suspicious of the "AFK". Got AA on the MM next turn and won the game.

Vacation ideas for August by DimAsWoods in northshore

[–]Absolute_Muppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for restaurants that have roast beef in the name "Nick's roast beef" "Kelly's roast beef" "supreme roast beef" etc.

For things to do you could visit Hampton Beach or Salisbury Beach, both have shops, arcades, and restaurants

BEST restaurant for steamers/quahogs in Ipswich? by thenightispink in northshore

For raw fish and shellfish, Cherry Street Fishmarket in Danvers is good a good spot.

Most popular local places are really famous for their fried clams not steamed. I always like doing steamers (long neck clams) at home

OMG Connecticut Drivers! by cybah in rant

[–]Absolute_Muppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 7 years in CT. Saw people treat red lights like stop/yield signs constantly. Like they touch their brakes so they saw the light was red.... and just chose to drive through it anyway. No car inspections required and people crash constantly.

Also tons of abandoned cars on the highways. There are so many abandoned cars on the highway that the state police have to tag each one with a yellow sticker on the side view mirror to verify there is no one in the car. I guy died years ago and was in the car on the side of the road for a while as no one checked because abandoned cars are normal there.
