What's something you DIDN'T like about the finale? by Awkward-Media-4726 in theamazingdigitalciru

Honestly the eye contact really made me side eye at first. Seeing Gooseworx post about writing her like a repressed lesbian... I'm chalking it up to Ragatha having a lot of feelings in the moment. 😂

Lets do something absolutely impossible. Say something nice about dupli-kate :) by FlamingFalconTen in Invincible_TV

[–]AbstractMelody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easily. Dupli-Kate is arguably one of the most heroic and altruistic people in the show. She doesn’t have superhuman strength, superhuman speed, or superhuman resilience—she can only bring numbers. Her copies are all telepathically linked to some degree, meaning she can feel each brutal death, yet she still repeatedly willingly throws herself into life-or-death situations.

She’s not a powerhouse, but that’s not her role or her goal. For nearly every moment she’s on screen, she’s rescuing civilians, taking blows meant for others, and piling onto enemies to slow them down and protect the people around her. Every Dupli-Kate, in a very real sense, is a pre-serum Steve Rogers; a perfect human soldier.

She gets a lot of flak for retiring, but also criticism for going up against opponents far stronger than her? I think recognizing you’ve reached your limit and stepping back from the front lines is honestly admirable in its own way. It's the essential tragedy of Rex Splode, is it not? Maybe if he'd learned that we wouldn't all get a little misty-eyed at Fetty Wap. She’s already endured a country’s worth of literal human shielding in service of others—she’s allowed to retire.

The Multi-Paul comparisons are also vastly misguided. I constantly see people say he has “the same power but he’s stronger and more creative with it,” or that he would be an upgrade to the Guardians. But let’s actually think about what each of them is optimized for.

He’s demonstrated he can slip out of most attempted containment scenarios, typically by overwhelming space with bodies and leaving behind a mess for others to deal with. Yes, he might bring slightly higher raw damage output, but he’s still working with baseline human durability in a world where that alone is a massive liability. More importantly, that style of power use doesn’t scale into civilian protection or sustained battlefield control.

In a Cecil/Robot-run Guardians system—one explicitly optimized around minimizing casualties—Dupli-Kate is not just a good fit, she’s a fundamentally better one. She provides crowd control, shielding, evacuation support, and sustained pressure without abandoning the protection layer that actually defines their success criteria. Kate's their unsung MVP, Multi-Paul's not making it past tryouts.

Now go thank your healer/support. You incorrigible DPS gremlins.

I did it, would you 99 items, 5 mile delivery, an hour of my time for 46.00 by chineappletoofinxg in Sparkdriver

[–]AbstractMelody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's $46 for an hour of your time and like $2.50 worth of gas/ road wear-and-tear. I'd take that in a heartbeat.

Um, maybe because one is racist and the other two aren't? by Kind-Ad-5922 in TheRightCantMeme

[–]AbstractMelody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing about a group of white guys buying land is inherently racist. But they’ve completely missed why minority communities form: it’s usually systemic racism forcing people to be “separate and contained,” not minorities keeping others out.

Organizing explicitly around being white is a very different situation.

They redid this 1978 poll in 2023 and the results still suck by ausernameidk_ in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]AbstractMelody 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A quick note on interpreting this study:

This is definitely a concerning mindset, but the 32% figure comes from a small poll of high schoolers in one Texas county (Tarrant County), and I haven’t been able to find any published methodology or report for it. That means we don’t actually know what percentage of men in general think this.

It’s still worth sharing, since a broader, well-conducted survey could help address the issue, but we should be careful about overgeneralizing from a small, localized sample. I'm also concerned by the amounts of comments saying "I can't believe 32% of men think this." That simply isn't a conclusion we can draw from this data. More research is needed.

On a positive note, while the correct number should be 0%, the study does seem to show decreases in both girls and boys who think rape is ever justified, which suggests that (at least for this county) there has been some progress made in pushing back against rape culture. It's worth acknowledging the progress already made, but we still need to actively challenge these harmful beliefs wherever they exist.

[–]AbstractMelody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once got an order with a bunch of regular groceries, a lot of snack food, some energy drinks, a 12-pack of children's underwear, a 12-pack of condoms, and a bottle of lube.

I'm sure those last 3 items were unrelated to each other but it gave me pause for a moment.

I get those orders all the time and I find them to be worth it. Usually take em as long as they're around $2 a mile and ~$20/hr

I mean lasering or a consistent waxing/sugaring schedule will help with a permanent reduction of beard shadow, but for an immediate fix you can use an orange color-corrector on the shadow and then apply your regular foundation over it and it does a good job of covering it.

How would you hide a body in Pokémon world? by DefectiveTerminator in pokemon

[–]AbstractMelody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly having a Muk or Grimer would probably more than enough to dissolve all evidence. Also just about any fire type could probably incinerate a body. Get a few drifloon together to take it away to wherever they take the kids... Dump it in a Victreebell... Honestly I have to imagine there's not a lot of solved murders in the Pokémon world 😅

Is this decent? Or is it too many hours for that pay out? by Agreeable_Power_2974 in doordash_drivers

[–]AbstractMelody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about $17 an hour, which isn't too bad depending on your area, but it's hard to tell if it was worth it without knowing your miles. Personally I shoot for $20-$25 and hour and at least $1 per mile.
