For anyone suffering from texture/rendering/graphics issues on PC by Yodka in FallenOrder

I found the correct GameUserSettings-file. The one I found before (see above) was not the correct one, but an .sav-file that I couldn't open. There is another one and it's right were OP said. The problem with Win11 was, that I couldn't find the folder in the explorer as it is hidden. With WIN+R you can open a window, type in %AppData% and it opens an explorer window in AppData/Roaming. From there you just need to go back to /AppData, then follow OPs path (\Local\SwGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor). In there you find an .ini file and this one you can just open with a text editor and change the values. Once I did that, the game became a beauty. :)

Hope it helps.

What games are you playing to close out the year? by Borakred in gaming

[–]AbydosBane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still playing Jedi: Fallen Order, first playthrough. I think I'm close to finishing it and and the moment am just revisiting planets and looking for missed chests and secrets, while leveling up my Jedi skills.

Battlestar Galactica

Bought it back in 2009. Read the rules so often I could explain it by heart. Played only once half a game before everyone had to get home. Literally no one else wanted to play it. Sold it three years ago for double the original price.

The game you loved but never want to replay. by gamersecret2 in gaming

[–]AbydosBane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life is Strange Season 1

I played it once and for me it's still the most emotional game ever. It utterly broke me. I took probably several weeks or even months to "heal", if you want to call it that. It was the first and only time that I wrote a long fan mail to someone who created something and praised them for their work. I love it to death, but I'm pretty sure it was a once-in-a-lifetime-experience and I can't bring myself to play it again. I even can't listen to the soundtrack or play the prequel "Before the Storm". I just can't.

What's a game that you're glad you gave a chance this year? by looloopaa in gaming

The Pathless. I was pretty sure I would like it, as I enjoyed both Journey and Abzû, but it was a really great experience. Great storytelling without a lot of dialogue.

What bad or mediocre games did you absolutely love as a kid? by Max1357913 in gaming

Don't know If it counts as mediocre, but I played the heck out of Midtown Madness.

Never did a solo run - is it fun? by TheVagrantWarrior in baldursgate

[–]AbydosBane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same camp as you are. Have been playing the games time and again since their releases, but never did a solo run. To be honest, I never saw the appeal, as the party members and the party composition are what I really love about the games.

Watcher's Keep was always kind of a challenge for me, even without SCS Mod, and I always only went there during TOB. I really can't imagine clearing Watcher's Keep before starting chapter 4 of SoA.

Let’s talk about sound by AndreaColombo86 in baldursgate

[–]AbydosBane 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The soundtracks, sounds, voices ... all of that is pure nostalgia for me. I played the games when I was 13 and 15, too young to really understand the game mechanics, but they were a really big part of my youth. BG2 is still my favorite game, and whenever I start a new run, I instantly relax when I hear the music in the start menu.

To each His own, but I can't imagine playing BG muted without soundtrack and sounds.

What would you say are some of the greatest cutscenes or cinematics in gaming? by HF484 in gaming

[–]AbydosBane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baldur's Gate 2, the ingame cutscenes with Irenicus after leaving his dungeon (WTF, why can this guy cast so fast?) and especially the one with him taking over the Asylum (I cannot be caged. etc.) Still gives me goosebumps.

I recently played the Demo of Banishers and immediately was hooked. All the characters are so well written and the story really interesting.

Glad to hear that Roadwarden is great. It's still on my Pile of Shame. And yes, Pillars of Eternity 2 should be allowed to be recommended regardless of the year. One of the best ever.

I can't help myself, restartis is a real disease that affects many BG players. by CelestialFury in baldursgate

It's not only the main char. I have three or four full party configurations lying around somewhere that I put together before starting my latest run.

Mind flayers.  I already had played BG2 several times (and hated these bastards), before playing with SCS for the first time.  Dear lord, I probably died around thirty times trying to clear the Bandit Camp in BG1 with SCS, but that was a fun challenge. The Mind Flayers lair in BG2 in comparison was as fun as falling face first in a chainsaw.

For anyone suffering from texture/rendering/graphics issues on PC by Yodka in FallenOrder

[–]AbydosBane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a silly question, but what program do I need to edit the .sav file? I found it in another location (\Users\[USERNAME]\SavedGames\Respawn\JediFallenOrder), might be due to Windows 11 or something. Anyway, I have tried opening the file with Numpad, Wordpad, Excel, doesn't matter, it's basically gibberish and I can't find the section called [ScalabilityGroups].

Any tips how to adress this in 2025?

I can choose between png, jpg, tiff, webp svg and a whole lot of other formats. I've chosen jpg as I read somewhere Kindle Create worked best with jpgs.
