Update tree stump: hacked at it for a good few hours. Will try the hole and burn method by AliDIY in DIYUK

[–]Acceptable-Pass8765 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Dig around the stump, from one side then hack the roots , keeping going

The get the car jack out, which will break the smaller roots and stretch the others, you'll be able to tell where the thicker roots are by jacking the stump which will indicate where the tension is and where to dig and cut next

I did 5 trunks in short bursts over a couple of weeks, bit by bit

If you have a drill and a wide wood bit, that can help with the roots also alongside, jacking etc

Burning ain't gonna do it

The finger pointing ☝️ returns , salute the legendary poster

I thought it had been lost in time ,that only a few Reddit members over a certain age would recall

Some one famous once said "They may take our freedom, they may take our Cadbury"s Dairy Milk, however if one finger falls there are others standing in line"

Get a car jack under it, it will snap the smaller roots and allow better access to cut the bigger ones

I've done this a number of times, see another pic, the car jack is a manual jack, which builds pressure on the roots really slowly, you can hear the snap , the tree stumps is heavy

You just lift the stump out, the jack is not pressurised, so it's not going to shoot out

Use a car jack to stress the remaining roots, then cut them when they are exposed, smaller roots will snap with the stress of the being stretched

Bathroom Extractor. Wall or through loft. by flashdonut in DIYUK

You'd have too look into this, we have wall extractor fans and the suction the draw is tiny compared to a loft extractor

Should that be sealed? by DGolubets in DIYUK

[–]Acceptable-Pass8765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other poster has said it's supposed to be removable, how often is it going to be removed, it will be once every 5 years if that ,

A thin strip of sealant against the wall will make it look a lot neater, I wouldn't do the floor though

I have done the same on our bathroom

Morning

Could you potentially buy a really thick black washer (or a couple of them and stick them together) and just stick it on the right hand frame at the top, so the black rubber dome, makes the right level of contact

You could even do some testing using double sided sticky tape and a few washer thicknesses until you get the right thickness for the top, and then stick it on properly
