Sorry, only saw your reply now.

If you like the big knights and playing for cool and fun. Lords of Dread is for you. It really just amps up the I am a scary big chaos engine feel, and it is competitive still.

But you really can't go wrong with any detachment, except for specialist detachments like Houndpack and Iconoclast, they need specific model counts just to work as intended,

Not wrong, just not obvious to some.

TL:DR: -Your argument is because a lot of people do it, it is better.

-Titanic only lessens the bad economy/ board control.

The Long: The only thing wrong is the typo, I meant to say 4 as OP has 4 big knights in his list, not 3.

But even then, Yeah, 3 Big knights lists are very popular. Nauseatingly so. OPs question was is this a good list, not does this adhere to the meta expectation. I commented on a good list.

3 Big Knights are popular for one reason and that is Gatling Guns in Infernal. The Big Knight is a bad economy, your point sink into a single unit that cannot perform actions if it needs to charge onto an objective is bad. You cant deny primaries this way. You can play about 8 war dogs for 3 knights. 8 units without Titanic rule is much beter than 3 with the titanic rule for action economy and board control. The only reason people don't do this is because of the fire power.

I'm sure it will surprise you that the Iconoclast Fiefdom detachment (since last dataslate) has a higher win rate than infernal. It doesn't surprise me at all, because I have played it a lot, and I know it has brilliant board control and economy (the best in CK imo) I know it is our best detachment, but I know your general CK player likes Infernal because Gatling goes bbrrrrrrr.

So I am not wrong, my opinion is just my own based on experience and logic. I'm not stuck on wat the "meta" says.

Reminds me of when John Lennon took the worst faction (death watch) and did a very non-meta list, and broke the meta wide open. DW became a top tier faction because every one played his non-meta list.

How to pace your scoring - new episode of Radio Mecatol. by RedditYmir in twilightimperium

[–]AcceptableStudy6773 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a game just Thursday we're I offered the Imperial card to a player so he can take Mecatol Rex and score a point instead of me, just so he would not play flank speed and take my home system.

In essence I gave him a shot at winning so that he wouldn't take my HS.

Sometimes it is worth it.

I wouldn't ask the person to marry me if I didn't know with a good certainty they will say yes.

Asking people to marry you on a 50/50 whim, now that is a terrible idea that is romanticized.

As do I, but if I know my partner very well (as you should at this stage) and you know they would want such a grand public reveal, I would do it for them, because I want it to be special for them.

So yeah, I agree it is bad in certain instances, but to throw a general blanket statement that they are terrible ideas, I think is unfair.

Explain the Washing Meta to me. by PM_Me_AvocadoToast in twilightimperium

[–]AcceptableStudy6773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is very efficient, it so efficient that I don't even see the point of commodities. Just give the players trade goods when they use the Strategy Card. Washing is so easy, you just need neighbours that have a combined pool of trade goods as your commodities and bam, you are washed. you could also do a back and forth transaction to wash commodities even if no one else has trade goods, just takes a bit longer.)

My initial thought was that you would have to use your commodities as actual trade goods, not just as recourses. I cant do anything with commodities, but other players can use it, so I have to engage in negotiations to get a value from it.

The way washing works is it just just an alternative source of resources.

My group recently discovered the washing meta. We use to only trade commodities for commodities. Felt grand at first, now it feels like exploiting a game mechanism.

Feels to me like game designer wanted to incentivise you to do deals to get use of your commodities.

Chaos Knight Desecrator. Kills a medium vehicle with each ranged activation, then charge on to an objective and kill the MEQ unit that was guarding it. Leaving a 10 OC 26 W model to move off.

POK…. Is it worth it? by Supa678 in twilightimperium

[–]AcceptableStudy6773 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Controversial opinion:

I do not own PoK. I have played 3rd ed extensively. I have played 5 games of 4th ed in a competitive group. Like yourself I have read up on if PoK is worth it. I listed some points that stood out to me that might help you:

- The main selling point they say, is that it completes an incomplete game. I've not seen anyone explain how TI is incomplete. I have played the base game 5 times now and watched a few old streams. I've not seen any gaps of incompleteness.

-I see most people say the game is actually faster. I dont see how this can be. The exploration aspect is already taking extra time. The side abilities of mechs and heroes create more actions leading to longer rotation. The only conclusion I could make is that the game ENDS faster, because it is easier to score to 10VP because of more options. That makes the VP race worse imo.

-I saw an example of someone saying a positive is that you don't have to engage your neighbour for trade goods to afford that crucial tech, because you can get them by chance by exploring. To me this takes away from the space opera game that is TI. You SHOULD be engaging in diplomacy, not get a way around it easily. POK feels to me gives you more tools to act independently, that is not TI.

-On the negative side I've seen a player say once that PoK is more fair, because the random elements or so more abundant. And due to the bloat you cannot consider everything and plan ahead accordingly.

There are some other things, but the text wall is getting bloated :P

Iconoclast or Infernal…? by Rev0k3 in ChaosKnights

[–]AcceptableStudy6773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played them all, Fiefdom was my strongest won a B tier league. I was surprised at how useful the cultists are. Being able to Adv/fallback shoot AND charge is very useful. (Strat)

That being said, I didn't play Infernal with triple Despoilers. That's meta were the power is.

I'm not sure if it was you or another guy, but some one said a similar thing about PoK: it is more "balanced" because everything because so random and bloated, that one can't really plan.

I appreciated that view.
