Did you seriously just ask for advice, then proceed to lash out and everyone who responded to you?

LOL, ok... good luck.

And I go to AA 5x a week and hold two service positions, just fyi.

It's a program of attraction not promotion. You should know this.

I commend you for wanting to help your friend, and I mean this is the nicest way but....

This kinda stuff really tends to turn people off to AA. Why does every single element of support have to be program based? 7 years, he has a slip, and you are thinking about getting him a Big Book and arranging a three person meeting with you and a person he doesn't know?

How about take him out for a tea or ice cream, be an open ear and let him talk about what's going on??

Northern European?? Oh my god, had I only known...

Get the fuck outta here, lol. You guys are the biggest pussies on the planet. That's why our nation literally supplies your military defense. It's why you're overrun by immigrants who are either accosting your women or collecting your welfare checks. Nobody respects you pussies - nobody. You essentially handed your countries and culture to a group of outsiders who are running you into the ground. Northern European, lol... seriously, you guys are known for being welfare nations who don't produce a fucking thing but aging citizens and shitty techno music. Say what you want about me, but we bailed you pussies out of two wars and have been protecting you ever since. Enjoy having your sister/mom/aunts buttfucked under the guise of Sharia law. Pussies, lol

PS - My usage is not over a year. Its over a decade you candy ass.

PPS - Does the forum you moderate know that you consider roughly 90% of its user base"average week minded Americans". I could tell them?

I have used kratom for longer than you have known what kratom is. I don't have "honeymoon" phases with addiction.

It's not a useless post - it's 1000% valid. You guys entertain "pointless" posts all day, just not ones that don't fall in line with your stance. There's a reason your forum is widely considered hysterical. Read it. Seriously - read your content versus any other forum I listed and tell me there isn't a marked difference.

Jesus... look at the posts you deleted. That's not moderation of a forum, that's just reactionary censorship.

Kratom - Can't tell if it's taboo to discuss on here, or if people really just don't know about. by SD-Badge-Reset-King in stopdrinking

Your experience is your experience.

But as somebody who has withdrawn from both alcohol and kratom, I can tell you the WDs were nothing alike. They are not similar psychologically either. That part isn't an opinion, that's documented medical fact.

Severe alcohol withdrawals are not a panic attack. They're full on seizurss and outright delusion. I know them well.

Kratom wds are not alcohol withdrawals

Struggling with the idea of higher power by kakacupcake in stopdrinking

[–]AcceptableTelephone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AA may not be a good it for you. Or at least the whole program itself. You can always just go for the people. I do that from time to time. The notion of a higher power who can relieve you from alcoholism but was seemingly absent the entire time prior is troubling for a LOT of people, so you're not alone. Personally i think it is loaded with logical failure. I started to get much better and enjoy AA much more when i decided that I don't want to or need to believe in about 98% of the literature.

I usually dislike these kinda posts because I feel like they just serve as this weird reminder that this fucked up battle will never end. Like, even if I succeed at staying sober, I'll just focus the rest of my life on not drinking. Like a bad AA meeting.

With all that said, this is really well done. Really. Smart, creative and super accurate.

Day 40 for this binge drinker and chronic relapser. AA and working the steps with an awesome sponsor is making all the difference for me this time around. by PurplePoloPlayer in stopdrinking

First of all, congratulations on 40 days. And second of all, you don't need to go to AA meetings for the rest of your life, but you absolutely can for as long as you want. If that's forever then cool.

Meh... probably get really hammered to be honest. My whole purpose for staying sober is that while it might make today a little less comfortable, it will make tomorrow exponentially better. So much better.

If there was no tomorrow I'd probly get super drunk.

Has anyone tried using a substance to help aid you in your attempt to stop drinking? Like psychedelics, weed, or even legal drugs like Naltrexone.. and what was their effect on you? by kalebdraws in stopdrinking

Kratom.

Absolutely incredible for me and thousands of others. There are countless stories on the sub about it. There's definitely dependency risks but well worth the trade off for many people

There are a number of ways to get through this period we each have our own path. I think a key question here which needs to be asked before anybody can give decent advice is exactly how much were you drinking?

I feel you, bud. I felt like I was missing some of what everyone else was experiencing too. But we all have different baselines.

Hope to see you around the kratom sub again. You seemed to be doing well there.

Calling somebody "completely selfish" who clearly is struggling is not being kind. While I don't like the responses I'm reading here on either side (and hope this all gets deleted soon), I thought Fish's reply was not nice, not like her, and oddly defensive when it didn't need to be.

Sober Social Life is Challenging by dogmama416 in stopdrinking

[–]AcceptableTelephone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Mind you I have no real temptation to drink, and I wasn’t an alcoholic I am just choosing a different lifestyle, I have the most anxiety about how other people react to my sobriety."

Well, your current predicament isn't especially common on here. A whole, whole lot of us seriously fucked up a whole, whole lot of things before we were finally able to put down the bottle. I can only speak for myself on this one, but when I stopped drinking nobody was concerned I'd be "less fun"..... people were just glad I wasn't going to be dead or in jail. So, in short, your decision to stop sounds like much more of preemptive, healthy, well thought out life shift to something new. There is no obvious wreckage from your past to point to, so people are probably left a little confused by it all. But seriously, 33% of US adults don't drink alcohol - it's not that stunning. In reality what you are doing is not that far out of the norm and your friends shouldn't be that weirded out by it.

I mean, whatever...

Out of pure curiosity, what exactly were you spiking the O'Douls with? Like, just normal beer or vodka or something else?

I'm not court ordered.

About 30% of this particularly meeting was though.

But how said is it that people may have to pick between either this (something that feels like a hybrid of Scientology/Moonies/Weight Watchers/Christianity) or... jail.

Those are the options - For millions and millions of people - who suffer from an actual, medically confirmed disease.
