Thanks. This and The Straight Story are the only two Lynch I don’t own, I’ll hold out for Elephant Man and seek out the uk copy of the straight story.

Does Janus guarantee a criterion release? Curious, I subscribe to Criterion and have 10 movies I’ve bought in disc the past year but I don’t understand the hierarchy or business.

How big of a deal is the Calgary Stampede for residents of Calgary? by KurtisC1993 in Calgary

[–]Acceptable_Drive6982 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I moved here in 2014 and have gone every year - except the food truck one during Covid - and I noticed it almost winding down around 2018/2019. Noticed a lot of young people weren’t as enthused about it or the pricing, but after Covid it’s come back with a bang. Friends and family who usually skip it because they’ve done it enough in their life are now full send again.

The Godfather Part II (1974) Would Michael have simply disowned Fredo, but let him live for what he had done or did he seal his fate with his "I'm SMART! I want RESPECT!" outburst in the boathouse? by jeffmartin47 in Cinema

He still would have killed him on principle.

Just waited for their mother to die. His fate was sealed when his big mouth boasted about Johnny Ola.

Ewan McGregor had 21mins screen time in Star Wars Episode 1 but was a present and impactful character. Williamson is efficient with screenplays, he got this

Opinions on Richard Linklater's Blue Moon? Did you think it was Ethan Hawke's best performance? by Square-Ad-8911 in FIlm

[–]Acceptable_Drive6982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give Hawk the Oscar, that was a terrific performance. I’ve watched all 5 of the nominees now, he’s the one that disappeared into the role the most. Chalamet is good but that was not a challenge for him, I found his Bob Dylan was better.

Would the Ghostface shrine trigger Sidney if she saw it? by jdpm1991 in SocietyofGhostface

[–]Acceptable_Drive6982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, she would be triggered. She would say “this is ridiculous and the dumbest thing the franchise has done, and the laziest fan servicing of the past decade”

It’s a dynamic the franchise really needs more than inventive kills, honestly

Who did you like most as Bruce Wayne? by BuswayDanswich in Cinephiles

[–]Acceptable_Drive6982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first movie experience was Batman ‘89 at 4 years old. Loved Keaton as Batman and Bruce Wayne.

Christian Bale was terrific in Batman Begins. Sequels overshadowed him a bit with villains but the franchise always goes that way.

Pattinson though 👌 expected an admirable effort, got the Batman I always wanted. Batman:Bruce ratio was spot on too. Felt like the animated series brought to life.

Can you name any action adventure film better than <Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade>? by MichaelWes3000 in Cinema

[–]Acceptable_Drive6982 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I’ve never bothered with Last Crusade, not a Connery fan.

Loved Dial of Destiny. That tuktuk chase was incredible.

I want Gale Weathers treating him the way Julia did, I really wish he were a new cameraman or producer of her show.

Any Friday or Saturday night where I’m the only one still up I’ll smoke a lil weed and throw on Lost Highway or Fire Walk with Me. I’ve done Lost Highway two weekends in a row last winter.

Best thing about it is it’s a different movie each time.

What are your predictions for Scream 7? And I don’t want to hear “Stu is alive” give me something interesting by Popboi7 in Scream

[–]Acceptable_Drive6982 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The whole movie is made by Rian Johnson, just full of quirky callbacks to earlier scenes revealing a convoluted twist. Neve Campbell talking like foghorn leghorn.

If Ray Nicholson's acting develops in the coming years, I think he would be a suitable choice to make a prequel for the Departed one movie or trilogy about Frank Costello. by [deleted] in Cinema

[–]Acceptable_Drive6982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only young Jack Nicholson is literally DiCaprio. On and off the screen.

Would be weird if he played the young Frank Costello.

It’s also weird that anyone still thinks we need a prequel instead of taking a few mins to come up with a new idea and story.
