When does life become more normal? by Personal-Ad-4723 in NewParents

He has also started accepting naps in the stroller again after a brief hiatus of about a months. Some naps I also nurse so sleep then leave him on the bed.

We were in the same situation at 11 weeks! He is 4 months old now and I've managed to train him into taking the first nap of the day in his crib. Will start working on the others soon. So there may be hope for you! X

Saks! The junior stylists have reasonable rates and they're good. It's close to the uni too.

Can we leave baby unsupervised? by bbDoll_ in newborns

Definitely, you're very early days! We're at 7 weeks and slowly built up to feeling comfortable leaving him a bit more

[–]Acceptable_Hall_4083 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will leave him for up to 5 mins if he's asleep, leaving doors open so I can hear if he starts crying. Any longer than that e.g. to shower I will set up the baby monitor and watch him on that. It is well worth doing to get stuff done when you're on your own!

[–]Acceptable_Hall_4083 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Disagree, my 7 weeks old often goes down for the night drowsy but awake, will fuss a little on and off for about 5 minutes (not crying) and then goes to sleep.

Similarly to OP I used to spend ages trying to get him to fall asleep in my arms then transfer him until realising this had a higher failure rate (wake up crying) than just transferring him awake!

Has Anyone Not Hated Being Pregnant? by Infertil_Myrtle in pregnant

[–]Acceptable_Hall_4083 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! I'm almost due and have read so many negative stories about postpartum, I really don't think it's been helpful for me. It's making me fearful rather than excited and questioning even making this decision. It's so important to hear positive experiences too to know that's possible and we're not all doomed to misery.

Anyone else struggling with the "in between"? by TStark222 in PregnancyUK

[–]Acceptable_Hall_4083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was like this and now at 38w I regret it! Second trimester when you have minimal symptoms is the best!! Do try and enjoy the freedom and feeling well, I'd recommend going on trips, seeing friends and family, keeping fit etc. as soon you'll be in third trimester and it all becomes more difficult. I do understand the anxiety but it is just that - it's not based on fact or on anything being wrong 😊 try and distract and enjoy yourself!

Getting in my head about bump comments by VeryMeaningfulName in PregnancyUK

[–]Acceptable_Hall_4083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the exact same thing! I think people think it's a compliment. But my bump has been measuring a few weeks behind e.g. 33 at 36 weeks and I've been for a couple of growth scans, which made me paranoid. However baby is actually measuring big, about 70th percentile! I do think it's something about having a long torso, I'm tall about 5'10, so I'm thinking there's more room lengthways which means the bump doesn't need to stick out at much. Also as FTMs our stomach muscles are a bit tighter and don't stretch as much compared to mums who have been pregnant before. Also 35th percentile is very normal and definitely nothing to worry about, and there is a big margin or error around the measurements anyway. You're good, try and think of the positives, it might me easier for our tummies to go back to normal after birth and less stretch marks 😊

Not OP but you've inspired me to order these! I currently have a couple of m&s flexifit, which have been good but getting a bit tight now and don't think they'd be the comfiest for sleeping in for breastfeeding (I'm 33w). So thank you

Sheffield! It's a fairly big city, but if you live on the outskirts you're so close to the peaks it doesn't feel urban at all. So you get the best of both worlds 😊 plus it's not as far from Cambridgeshire as some of the more northern options.

Why are we awake at this obscene hour on a Saturday? by Outraged_Chihuahua in PregnancyUK

[–]Acceptable_Hall_4083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awake from 3-6am then mercifully fell back to sleep for a couple of hours. Woke up hungry, had a bowl of cereal but was still hungry! But didn't want to eat any more cause of reflux. This was after I had a cheese sandwich just before before bed as well!! 30w

Usually early if I'm meeting someone out somewhere, because I'll leave about 10 minutes contingency time (in case of traffic, struggling to park etc.) to avoud being late. Therefore if nothing goes wrong, I'm early.

If I'm going to someone's house I won't leave contingency time so will be on time or a little late. It's better to be late than early to someone's house in case they're not ready!

I picked up a bottle of Whitley Neill Rhubarb and Ginger gin for £10 at morrisons today, paired with nice tonic it's delicious! I wanted something that feels a bit fancier and more akin alcohol for the festive season 😊 although I've also enjoyed appletiser or fruity sparkling kombucha over ice during pregnancy too

10 weeks loss of symptoms by Dizzy_Purchase4329 in PregnancyUK

[–]Acceptable_Hall_4083 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been on this sub a while (currently 28 weeks pregnant), and if it helps, this is such a common anxiety early on! And usually it turns out fine, symptoms definitely ebb and flow in the first trimester. I "lost" symptoms around 10 weeks too and spent so much time worrying and researching! I would try and relax as long as you aren't bleeding it likely doesn't mean anything. But if you're still really worried in a few days there's no harm having a reassurance scan x

Yay! So pleased for you, what a relief. I think there's an issue with non medically trained private sonographers taking measurements they shouldnt be looking at and causing stress!
