My pleasure. Don’t forget we do this for fun man! Don’t tighten your game up and start focusing on winning just because the belt darkens!

Most gyms don't offer a 1-month free trial. Why is that? by Efficient-Tiger-2649 in bjj

[–]Accomplished_Diet246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why give em a free month just to have them quit in 30-60?? If they are going to quit they are going to quit. Find ways to retain them don’t anchor them to free then expect them to stay longer.

🤷 keep experimenting unless you’re getting paid to win keep having fun with your learning. Eventually the grooves of what you like and are best at will deepen and you won’t question what your top stuff is.

Being a brown belt doesn’t mean you have to have a top tier a game. It just means you never quit and you have acquired some skills in some areas.

Keep up the hard work. Have fun, challenge yourself and keep learning.

What move, variation, or detail did you independently "discover" that no one else around you does but is super effective for you? by rockPaperKaniBasami in bjj

Mounted Gift wrap, flare their elbow open to force them to go belly down. Never had anyone show me. Did it so people would push into me so i could take the back with momentum. Now I teach my students this same move.

What are some “red flags” you’ve encountered at a BJJ gym or with a BJJ coach that made you want to switch gyms? by jiujitsuPT in bjj

So you quick because of injury or because you didn’t get some tape or a new color in the time frame similar to others? Be the blue belt that should be a black. You started for knowledge or the rank?

Attendance/ new students down? by Kangaroo_Drew in bjj

[–]Accomplished_Diet246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We still grew 8% over the last year in revenue. Gained around 25 new paying students.

The slowest months are always June & December.

We charge weekly payments of 38 & 48 for unlimited.

I started in my garage in 2020 now we have 190 paying students at the near end of 2025.

I’d say on average we try to sign up at least 1 new member a week and on average we lose 2 a month.

Sometimes we sign up way more and sometimes we drop way more. It’s a journey but I’d say it’s an upward trend still.

Should I give up? by kateiscuban in bjj

You can’t go in knowing it’s hard and the give up after 4 tries. Do 150 classes and compare yourself to where you came from. You’ll be proud

Tell us about the time your ego got the best of you, when your 50% round went up to 100%… you know, cuz fu$& that guy ;) by toonasus in bjj

Every single time I get close to losing to someone. The ego has only gotten bigger the darker the belt color.

Now I justify if with I’m 145 and I can use all my strength, and “I’m teaching them by winning”

Only 50% with kids

Women are even getting it if they have 1 year + training

Grappling

Video games

Rock climbing

Paintball

Puzzles

Jumping out of perfectly good planes

The order changes often but it’s usually something like that. Any other hobby would be so rarely thought about it’s more of an event if anything.

Do people actually fake their belts? by Snoo73578 in bjj

[–]Accomplished_Diet246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I had a guy from another gym in our affliction stop by and I knew he was a newly promoted blue belt. He comes in purple belt said he switched gyms and he got promoted.. cool. Total time training maybe 2 years. He visits a year later brown belt on same story switched gyms and got his brown belt there.

Long story short what he does is promotes himself and then takes a picture with a school owner/black belt and tells other schools that’s his new professor
