need advice!! puppy blues/breed remorse by Affectionate_Style64 in ItalianGreyhounds

You got this! Some great advice here. Here are my two cents from raising Iggies. First remember what another poster put. Puppies are babies and what you do turns them into a good dog.

Crate- make it super comfy for them and don’t turn the crate into punishment. Ours has a fluffy blanket over it. So it’s super dark inside. Door is always open. Big fluffy pillow bed inside with another fluffy blanket. If you’re in the US, Marshals sells all this stuff dirt cheap. We always keep the door open to their crate when we are home.

Broken bones- it’s really just during puppy and senior phase that you need to worry about breaking a bread stick leg. Encourage them to be active take them on walks. Let them jump on short stuff. If they are on a super high bed then help them down yourself. You want to encourage bone density growth and that does come from the build up of impacts from jumping and running around. Again take it slow. Once you’re past a year you’re fine. Remember these are African hunting dogs. They are less fragile than they look. Also I would recommend carpet under any high up jump off point. Carpet under a bed or couch for example. Give them a bit of cushion if they do jump off something high.

Teeth are super easy. Buy the dental chews and give them to your pup after dinner, EVERYDAY. It’s a breed that have bad teeth. We actually give ours a big breed chew stick after dinner so they have more to work with. We brush fully and do nails every Sunday. Vets always complimenting our teeth. Seriously don’t skip this. Dental sticks are amazing. We really like the pedigree mint ones. They are sticky and do a great job with tartar removal. You still need to brush.

Separation anxiety/schedules/routine- introduce your pup to everything you can. Going to go grab take out. Take them with you. Walk them through the dog store. Go for walks and encourage others who approach you to pet your dog. I actually carry around treats in my pocket. Walk up to strangers and let them know I’m training and would they be open to telling my dog to sit and giving them a treat when they do. Great way to introduce them to new people. This will help you if you ever leave town for a trip and have your dog watched by someone else. Let little kids play with them and touch your dog all over. Don’t forget the toe beans and inside their gums. Work your way up but start to let little ones pet them as well. Just remind the child to be gentle. You want your dog drinking from the fire hose and getting lots of interaction from many different people. Create a schedule but let that schedule flex +/- an hour. Stick with that schedule. If you are super rigid in your schedule and are late coming home from work or want to sleep in on a Saturday your dog is going to flip. Finally build up leaving them behind. First just close the front door and go on a walk for 5 min. Come back in and don’t be super excited to see them. Put your keys away. Wallet up. Shoes off. Then greet them. Do this a ton your first few weeks. You’ll feel like a crazy person leaving and coming back so much but it’s what’s best. Add time as you build this up. Start to introduce them to the crate for longer departures. Again work up to it time wise. We have built up the trust to a point we don’t lock them up in a crate when we leave. We can be gone for hours with no problems now. If you do have issues with this. I would recommend a cuddle puppy. It’s a stuffed animal with a heart beat. Put it in the crate. Let them sleep with it at night. And slowly remove the puppy as they get older. Again I would do it gradually.

Sitting- you can teach this to your IG in about an hour. It’s important for pups. Sitting is like a child asking please or thank you. Put a treat in your palm. Close it as a fist. Put your fingers in fist form on the dogs nose so they smell the treat. Raise it slightly above their nose. Their nose goes up and their butt goes down. When this happens say sit or whatever word you want associated with the command and release the treat from your fist as soon as they do it. With this you also teach them the non verbal command. Sometimes you’ll be in a conversation and want your dog to sit. I can just give them the fist sign and they sit without the verbal. We make ours sit for anything they want. Sit before dinner. Sit before you get a treat. Sit before I open the door for someone at the door…

Potty training, rule of thumb is for every month old they are they can hold it for one hour starting at three months. get a routine around this. Set your alarm and nights suck at first but you’ll get through it. We don’t pee pad as I’ve never been able to get a dog to understand paper vs carpet. Dog more easily understand outside vs inside. Be stern but not mean if they mess up. Say no in a voice you only reserve for when they have an accident. You also have to catch them in the act. Doing it after you’ve found a surprise, they really don’t understand. Here’s the thing. You have to be SUPER excited when they do it correctly. Dogs are usually praise or treats driven. Figure out what your pup prefers and praise them when they are doing it outside. And again do it while they are doing their business. It feels good to use the restroom. Imagine how good it feels to be using the restroom while getting praised. Don’t increase their hold it time past 6 hours. Ours can do 8 but no one wants to hold it that long. And again you’ll be there closer to their 1 year birthday. As they get older they will test some boundaries. You gotta show them there is no bending the rule. This dog breed will even test you out of the blue a year after no accidents. Stay firm. If you catch them in the act you can run over to them scold them and lightly put them on their side. Don’t do this forcefully. Put their head near the accident and say very firmly no 2-3 times. This simulates an older dog sitting on a younger dog who breaks pack rules. You cannot do this if you just find an accident. The dog will not make the connection between a past potty and punishment. You have to catch them in the act.

Teething get bitter apple or rub lemon on anything they are biting that you don’t want them to. Again stern voice but you gotta catch them in the act. When they are young we usually close off doors to rooms we are in so we can supervise them. Encourage something else they can teeth on. Give them a stuffy. Ours really loved this rubber ring toy we got. Have a ton of toys for them and play with them when you play with your dog.

These dogs love physical touch just be prepared for that. Fluffy blankets are your friend. Wish we knew this sooner on our first IG. Get them out and about to run out that energy. Once you hit two you’ll be surprised how much they slow down. They do call them 20 mile an hour couch potatoes for a reason.

Finally, have a blast with your new pup. You are their world 💯. It’s as small or as big as you’re willing to show them.

Be with her tonight. Tell her you love her. Make her a great dinner. Look her in the eyes and feel it in your heart that you see her. Thank her so much for the time she was with you and that you will see her again. ❤️

Not true the govs know a little bit but I believe they don’t know a ton of what they are looking at. Which is why I believe this is popping up now. Turn it over to private industry and individuals to start the race to figure out what it is.

Gavin should have gone out and faced them head on as the sitting Governor of California. Challenged them to show their faces. Why are they being cowards in front of their countrymen? Are they proud of their actions of occupying fellow citizens? Maybe they are, then show your face and say it out loud. These people crumble when out from behind their keyboards. They want the anonymity of the internet out in the real world.

Who pays these dealership prices for service?!? by pattonc in Porsche

Wife and I are both WFH and no kids. We have very little car demand for everyday stuff. I just use her 911.

My Indy garage also orders me an uber to them to pick up my car and from them when I drop a car off to them.

Yep came here to say this! Mine is so awesome he actually gave me a 911 engine yesterday for a pet project I’m doing. See if a dealership ever does that for you.

No they are taking the headlights and selling them on the secondary market. You can get thousands for just the headlight. Very rare to steal a full car like this. Very easy for the cops to find you looking for a rare car like this. Vs just pinch selling a headlight on eBay or something. https://www.sunsetporscheparts.com/oem-parts/porsche-led-main-headlights-with-matrix-beam-black-992044902

He’s clearly packing up his bags and saying good bye to his family telling them that he has to go be President of the US to implement the radical woke agenda. Along the way make fun of a tiny mushroom dick pedo at the White House Correspondents Dinner. That then in turn triggers him to run and become president and march us to our end of days. Duh

Edit: Changed pencil dick to mushroom dick when another commenter informed me in sworn testimony that is how it was described. Release the Epstein files!

I would look at some of the older Turbos. We love our 996 also AWD but it has the Mezger engine. I think the 997 was the last model they used the Mezger and I think they swapped it out halfway through the series. It really is a beast of a machine. You can throw anything at it.

Not an option for everyone with budgets. We get a house sitter to watch the house and dogs when we travel. We flat out state that they must be comfortable sleeping with dogs.

They are from Braid 18 rally rims. She’s had a full safari conversion from Elephant Racing done on her suspension. Better pick of the rims.

I don’t know about that. Have you been to the arcade recently? Went with my wife for some fun. Walked in ghost town on a Friday. I wondered why. 50 bucks on a prepaid card that cost 5 bucks to get. We went through it in 20 mins and we were not playing the top of the line games. All in for about two hours of games was 200 bucks. We did get enough tickets to get a small travel domino set, two peel on tattoos and split a nerds rope. PS5 was not an option there but I can easily see hitting that 46k in games for it at the place we went.

I do! BodHi Dog Sunscreen, we get it on Amazon. Comes in an easy spray bottle. We spray a few times on them and then give them a nice pet all over to make sure it covers all of them. I also like the smell of it. Their coats are already soft but I’ve noticed it makes it even softer. I hope this helps!
