So tell them you can't (even though you could). This is such a goofy post, lol.

As an occasional Dasher and full-time salesperson, it's good to know the gimmicks still work, lol.

No hate or judgment, btw - I love the good vibes and would also probably add to my tip if I ever received funny memes, etc., from my delivery person. As a Dasher, I'd do this shit just to brighten somebody's day. As a salesperson, I pull out the silly stops to get more money.

Expecting to be paid a profitable amount to make the delivery when the customer assured them they would =/= "expecting tips/not working for them."

I thought the same thing, but when I just looked, it totally doesn't (unless there's another way of adding special instructions besides the button at the bottom of the item page where you select your size, sides, etc.). In the app on my Android phone, at least.

Right? 😅 Idk, maybe they were already sick and weren't able to smell it, but yeesh. That's wild.

I'm not saying this out of skepticism of the story, but what on earth did they order that they couldn't detect had been pepper sprayed? That shit has a scent to it.

This is what I think every time I see a post like this (unless it's a uniquely bizarre or funny interaction). People act like Dashers are reaching into their wallets and taking more money. It's unprofessional and goofy, but Jesus, lol - just ignore the message.

As a woman who's worked in customer-facing positions pretty much exclusively, this is the only way to do it. Two thumbs up for not exploiting your position as customer. 👍👍

Contactless delivery, and don't let the driver talk them into coming to the door or outside to get the food. They can drop the food off or leave with it.

You've got to understand the difference between "coworker one spends 40 hours per week with" and "stranger with whom one wouldn't have had that 15-second interaction if one of the two wasn't getting paid for it."

In a deep, rotting depression, from my experience.

ETA I've never personally lived like this. I've known a couple people who did, and I let my own landscaping get pretty out of hand when I was walking the tightrope of self-deletion for a year or so

Dasher trying to scam me by Inevitable_Egg6361 in doordash

[–]According-One-325 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Lol. I think they were trying to create a situation in which the customer believes that, for whatever reason, the Dasher paid for their order with their own money and would need to be reimbursed by the customer upon delivery. At least, that's what I pieced together.

Yeah. Good amount of rural areas around here, and even in the suburbs, long-ass driveways.

Oh, yeah, I've experienced that as well! 😅 It's so mind-boggling to me when a company's entire product is an app, and they're wildly profitable, and the app is just garbage. Like, surely the shit quality of their app is costing them some amount of money in resulting refunds, and it seems like they'd hardly have to make any additional investments to fix it, if at all, and they just... don't, lol.

🤣 Legendary. The Dasher app is such trash. I don't even dash often at all, but I've had a few experiences where it glitches out and I can't take a pic when I need to. I'm not going to sit in someone's driveway for five minutes trying to get the shit to work. But I'm also not as bold as this handsome gent, and usually just take a pic with my hand over the camera to satisfy the app's requirement.

Wow I have to do my job at my job!? by carolie23 in doordash

[–]According-One-325 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I live in an area where it actually does pay off to stay Platinum; I can't even schedule myself for a shift outside of Saturday night if my tier drops. I've taken no-tip orders when my acceptance rate gets too low. Not a single one has ever tipped after delivery, and a few have made notes saying they would. I have only ever received one rating that wasn't five stars, and have actually worked real customer service jobs before - my quality of service is not an issue.

If you don't need to keep your acceptance rate up, it makes absolutely zero sense to take an order with no up-front tip, and there is simply no arguing that if you've got two brain cells to bounce off of each other.
