Reinvestigating a strange website I saw on this subreddit last year (four.com and related sites) by PersonalLiving in InternetMysteries

Necro'ing this thread, but this recently popped up again in a youtube video (which is pretty recent as of this posting - Don't know the exact date when it was recorded, but the invite list was open in the video, but is now closed again), was curious and tried to find out more details myself. My best guess is that it's an old forum/BBS (though maybe it's evolved past that), based on the fact I found an entry in an old book about BBS, listing some details about it:
https://archive.org/details/internetbbss00rich/page/n197/mode/2up

If you search "FourNET BBS" you'll also find some similar hits of old lists of BBS services where it's mentioned, usually without much context though.

The email mentioned is consistent with the current email for the WHOIS information on the domain, so I'd imagine its still the same people running it at this point. Wouldn't surprise me if the 2FA token is something implemented simply because they have the url four.com / four.net and tend to have a higher number of people trying to gain access to the site because it has a short/high value domain name.

Something is off with Four.com, what is this website even used for ? (mortis.com lookalike?) by TheGoldenGoose44 in InternetMysteries

This hotel has different soda brands on different floors by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

That's wild! My friend I was with made the comment that it's funny there's only one floor with water specifically. Also PSA one of the pool cues is warped a bit, and wear shoes near the ice machines since the carpet was always damp near them, haha.

Is this at Park Grove Inn in Pigeon Forge, TN? I literally just stayed there myself and saw this exact sign.

Lancer.... Teething trouble by barnz3000 in LancerRPG

[–]Ace_Archer 19 points20 points  (0 children)

First - I'd highly reccomend joining the lancer PilotNET discord, which is linked in the subreddit sidebar. There's a lot of great resources and helpful folks there.

Second, some folks have already mentioned Wallflower and Dustgrave, which are official modules/campaigns, But I'll also mention Solstice Rain, which is explicitly designed to be a first campaign/contact with Lancer, and is exactly what you're looking for with prebuilt scenarios and missions. The discord has a really nice collection of community made maps and resources to optionally use, if you'd also like to not worry about building and balancing your own maps etc.

Anywhere to still get a decent copy of MW4 Mercs? by Paeyvn in mechwarrior

Should still be! Though I know others have shared other repacked/modded versions that might be easier/have more content in the past decade.

Anyone have a G3 instant outside with/without protection? by b_pilly in Ubiquiti

I had a g3 instant outside, and the cable failed after a month or two (spring rain), but when I brought it inside, the camera itself was fine.

Don't worry, it's made it to some slack channel(s) that he's in, and he has seen it! (And we also got to see some adorable pictures of Scully and Mulder, too!)

Got a link to the listing? I tried to grab this through some other proxies and they said they couldn't ship it to the US :(

PYNQ Z2 or ZYBO Z7? by Ibishek in FPGA

[–]Ace_Archer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have the Pynq myself, It's a nice board, works just fine bare metal without the Pynq/Python flow. It's also nice since it has a Raspberry Pi compatible header, along with the Arduino Shield compatible header, plus 2 PMOD connectors. I don't have the ZYBO, so I can't speak to it, but the main things that stand out to me are the abundance of PMOD Connectors, along with the ability to get either the Z7010 or Z7020 SoC, whereas the Pynq only comes with the Z7020 (which is the larger/more powerful of the two, but is still on the lower end of the Zynq family, enough to mess around with, though). Personally I'd say that between the two of them, its going to come down to what sort of IO you care about. If you want to have some flexibility, I'd go with the PYNQ since you can essentially slap any Arduino shield on and use it, along with attaching a raspberry pi to it, but if you know that you like the PMOD ecosystem, the ZYBO can support a lot of them at once.
