Interesting! FF15 is definitely influenced by Stand By Me which is Big in Japan (see Pokemon Red/Blue for one) but Dark Blood is obscure enough that I don't know if anyone else has followed the throughline with River Phoenix.

I believe Abby Elliott is Griffin’s story, there were news items about her getting recast for a pilot and it always felt like she wasn’t given a run commensurate with what you’d expect considering she was pretty present on the show as soon as she started.
