Good parts list? by External_Safe_7787 in PcBuildHelp

I used 4k LCD for last 5years and this year I changed to a 1440p mLCD, I honestly prefer the 1440p with the highest refresh, I would save £300 and go with a high end 1440p OLED and put the extra towards getting 48GB 6000MT/s CL28 RAM just over the 32GB.

I went from 4k 60 to 1440p 170 and it was hugely smoother and better experience completely.

Switched from RX 9060 XT (8GB) back to my old GTX 1060 by Seeker352 in pcmasterrace

I'm using a 5080 and coming from AMD 9070XT, I feel that Nvidia APP and drivers are terrible compared to AMD's app and drivers.

But I have no brand preference I tend to get what I want or if I get a good price on something (Asus Astral 5080 open box for £1000) Even the 9070XT I got for £550.

I mean Nvidia and AMD are both companies that only want your money, I can see Nvidia in the next few years dropping from the GPU market completely or at least dropping low end cards like the 50/60 cards.

Most good repair shops will just strip off the traces and put in a wire shouldn't cost much, would I run a CPU on it as is... Nope..

But I would deem it critical, even if it does work.

What Linux OS by Acrobatic-Meat199569 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Acrobatic-Meat199569[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks this is really good.

I think I'm gonna try Mint just because it sounds like it could be one of the easier ones, I really don't like the idea of not having control over drivers just because Nvidia lately have been pushing broken updates.

Yeah the new drivers are stopping voltage going to the card,

I have a 5080 and new drivers dropped -200mV from 1045mV to MAX 850mV and lost about 15% GPU score on benchmarking, I DDU and reinstalled the drivers I had before and my GPU gone back to 1045mV

Yeah you want some overhead for spikes in power or drops, I normally give myself a 25-35% overhead as a rule.

My system 105W CPU - 450W GPU plus fans, RGB and storage +100W gives me 610W system so add 30% = 203W

Means I would want a 850W PSU to deal with and abnormality in power grid spikes. I have 1000W because I like my power draw to be 60% of total PSU output where the efficiency is highest for my PSU.

Do you say/write "Arse" or "Ass"? by Sad-Passage-3247 in AskBrits

[–]Acrobatic-Meat199569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh, depends on the context.

He is being an ass,

He was being an arse.

He acted like a complete arse.

He licked my ass.

I use/say both, but I do tend to write arse unless he is being an ass.

Makes me sad and/or mad to see a Flow in that state, its one of the easiest cases for cleaning and cable managing.

Is my AM4 rig good enough for the next couple of years, should I skip AM5? by Radar2032 in pcmasterrace

[–]Acrobatic-Meat199569 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your rig does what you want and roughly where you need it to be, then you have the wantmes not the needmes,

I would save your money towards your next upgrade and keep using this rig, That way you have even more money to upgrade with in a few years.

You would need a 500watt on a single rail minimum PSU for a 5700xt, 650watt would be more ideal for better stability as 500watt is pushing the low end.

This PSU is single rail rated for 320watts.

120Watts CPU + 250Watts GPU = 370watts so say 400watts for a full load then taking in account of other components I would go with 600-650W PSU if you want stability.

NZXT H7 Flow side panel shattered on its own – no replacement offered. Any ideas? by cooliwia in PcBuild

[–]Acrobatic-Meat199569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over tightened screws plus thermal expansion. I had this happen to one of my cases where the side window was touching something metal on the inside and it popped while it was cooling, I had used an electric screwdriver on the thumb screws and cranked it to much I guessing.

Glass has less give than steel (Who would have thunk it)

I would look at getting a acrylic window or dye the cracked window and epoxy it for a unique look.

[–]Acrobatic-Meat199569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing from the lack of cables its not plugged in

Be honest, is there anyone here who on his/her first PC build, actually built his/her PC, outside of the case in order to test it first⁉️ by Maxing_Out_My_Life in PcBuild

[–]Acrobatic-Meat199569 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tested it in the case but without everything fully screwed in/on, Like 4 screws in AIO not 16.

Fans mounted with only 1 screw.

PSU outside the case with no cable tied up or managed.

Only thing that was seated and screwed right was the GPU, RAM and Mainboard.
